as I mentioned via text there was a mistake around turn 7/8 where I should've gotten a beast token from swag after the supreme. Luckily it didn't matter 'cause I won anyway. Tiebreaker?

An Advent of the Wurm token has trample naturally, and if it bonds with a Silverblade Paladin , the doublestrike means a blocking Thragtusk will die to first strike and the opponent will take 7 trample damage without the need for a Selesnya Charm .

yea thats true Goody but i cast it to get an extra 4 damage thru over all, and then it occured to me it would survive the thrag encounter if it didnt have dub strike. its complicated writing these out.

Great write up! The wrath really hurt you. Having Rootborn Defenses in the side would be a great solution and allows you to overextend to get the kill without worrying about Supreme Verdict . I think Goody has it in his deck's sideboard. I'm starting with Ready / Willing in my deck Come hear my voice, and have even considered expanding it into Junk, but I'm not sure which is best (I just remembered that Rootborn Defenses also populates). I think what we learned from that game is that to be successful you need to be able to maintain board position. Since your deck is more aggro, that means added pressure, added pressure means vulnerability to wraths, which means you either need to be able to recover fast or prevent the loss of position. I think a well timed Rootborn Defenses would have turned the game. Also I would have probably used Garruk, Primal Hunter 's -2 ability for card advantage sooner. It's actually the ability on garruk that I like the most.

Okay so I got through game one, I had access to multiple wraths that game and just needed a a chance to swing thru, overloaded cyclonic rift got me there.

Game 2 your deck really shined as garruk popped his ult and u were in prime positioning there at the end.

I'm curious to try using his draw ability and see how your deck plays out with a massive draw boost, considering garruks ult really doesn't work against my deck as long as I can wrath the turn after u pop him. Might as well be sac'ing him for card draw unless u have trostani out and can gain massive life from the token generation.

I would +1 for a beast the turn he comes out, then card draw the next turn -unless I have two in hand or I have something like a 5/5 out and two cards in hand. But I like to get that card advantage boost right around turn 5-6 (because of ramp) if I can.

Yeah, his -3 is really powerful. I've never ulti'd; I usually win the next turn if I manage to draw 5 or more cards.

+1 this is a fun deck to play it

@Apoptosis & Goody: thanks for the pro-tips fellas. I don't have any experience running Garruk, Primal Hunter really, so I was unaware of how potent the accelleration can be from his -3 card draw ability. I can see how the ultimate would mostly be worthwhile if a Trostani, Selesnya's Voice is out or something.

@Behgz: I can't wait for you to post game 3. Seems you've got the interest of a few people as far as what the final result of the match will be. Keep in mind what these other guys have said about Garruk, Primal Hunter 's + and - abilities. They clearly have more experience running them so I tend to believe the card draw ability is solid.

I use Prime Speaker Zegana in my Bant deck (mostly because it draws less hate and can flickered) and the card draw is amazing. It's not always necessary but it sure makes for a game changing events.

July 15, 2013 10:05 p.m.

@Ohthenoises: that makes sense I suppose. It's why Sphinx's Revelation is such a game swinging powerhouse card (plus the lifegain of course). Or Stroke of Genius back in the day. Probably because around the time you're popping one of these cards off ideally, is around the time you're running out of cards and about to start top decking. Repopulate your hand essentially.

Yep, also I DO get the lifegain usually. Not so subtle nod to Trostani, Selesnya's Voice

I told u I thought Long and Hard about using garruks draw ability game 2, turn four... Let that sink in for a sec... U would have had so much card advantage.. advent turn three guaranteed u would've drawn 5. That's pretty fvckin nuts.
