Maybeboard

idea from smash1010's deck "Ermahgerd! Berbergermers" and gleaned suggestions from Bennie Smith

hopefully enough mana ramp to get Borborygmos out early, and then enough draw to keep discarding land for damage.

I really like Knollspine Dragon. Discard all of my lands before playing him (usually between 5-7); then draw 15-21 cards (most of which are lands: deals approx 60 total damage.

the maybe board is more of a collection of cards that could work in the deck, but pulled out in favor of stronger, cheaper, and/or different mechanic cards.

I won the first game without much work.

Second game, BorBor was destroyed after I brought him out. Giving that player the perceived advantage for a few turns. He brought out some big scary things and such. When I brought him out the second time, that perceived stronger player graciously allowed me to keep Borbor on the condition that I not attack him. On my following turn I attacked the third player and dumped my hand of all its land, dealing 35 total damage and then played Knollspine Dragon. One of the cards I drew was Reliquary Tower, so I played it to keep the remainder of my hand, mostly because I didn't want to be a douche and kill both of the other players immediately. On the third player's turn, he attempted to kill Borbor, so I finished him off. Then on the second player's turn, he too attempted a removal spell, so I instant speed killed him from his 37 life with one manna remaining in my hand.

Third game, the second player switched to a deck that was considerably harder to contend with. Before I even played Borbor, he played Ivory Mask, which essentially means I can't win. He also played a lot more removal, and got rid of Azusa, Lost but Seeking, the only manna accelerator I had in my starting hand. So it was turn 9 before i even played Borbor because his commander was Grand Arbiter Augustin IV. By then the other two had been duking it out a little, but that didn't stop the second player from playing a removal spell on Borbor, so I creature wiped him since I couldn't throw it to his face. After I played Borbor the second time, he stayed on the board until it was my turn when I played Sakura-Tribe Scout and Nantuko Cultivator discarding 18 lands to make him a 20/20, enough to kill the second player by combat damage in conjunction with Borbor on my next turn. On his turn, he decides its a good time to play Banishing Stroke on Borbor. Me, not thinking, allows him to put Borbor on the bottom of my library instead of killing Borbor myself which would put him back in the commander zone. Oops. Though I did remember to creature wipe him before Borbor was gone. On my next turn, I played Shape of the Wiitigo on Sakura-Tribe Scout and attacked for lethal with both sakura and nantuko. Player 3 then conceded. He had been severely weakened by player 2, and I would have swung for lethal and game next turn anyway.

lessons:

  1. know when to kill Borbor myself, so I don't have to add hexproof or shroud to the deck.

  2. I need a way to handle pesky enchantments and stuff. Since Borbor can handle creatures when necessary, I feel the best response for noncreature permanents are Sylvan Primordial and Terastodon. Consider replacing Shape of the Wiitigo, even though it won me the third game, would have been a lot easier with either of the other two.
