INTRODUCTION
Control decks are too common in my local tournaments and they win most of the time. I came up with a land destruction deck that eats on control decks and easily destroys their lands. This is based off from a deck I saw that had 200+ upvotes. This includes Born of the Gods cards that will actually help better the position of land destruction. The only problem is when Return to Ravnica rotates out where there will be no more shock lands.
ESSENTIALS
Elvish Mystic and
Sylvan Caryatid: T1 and T2 drop mana ramp.
Demolish
and Bramblecrush: The land destroyers - these cards are the ones that will carry your game. Can be done on T3.
Nessian Demolok
: The newbie - this guy is probably the most beneficial to you and at the same time threat to the opponent. It's a win-win situation. Tribute isn't paid - destroy land. Tribute is paid - have a 6/6 creature that can't be burned easily or doom bladed (because there's no land!).
Ember Swallower
: Probably the cheapest (money wise, not mana wise) monstrous creature ever. And also the underrated one. Sacrificing three lands isn't a problem for us because we have ramp, but what about the opponent?
Magma Jet: The scry 2 is probably what we're after here. And also the occasional 2 damage burn. The scry 2 helps fix the order of the cards.
Encroaching Wastes: A bit expensive for destroying a non-basic land, but a pretty good card nonetheless.
Oracle of Bones
: Another newbie - if his tribute is unpaid, it's an easy cheat cast of land destruction, but if it is, it's still a 5/3 haste.
GENERAL STRATEGY
It's best to start out with at least a few rampers in hand. On turn 1, drop an
Elvish Mystic. On turn 2, drop a
Sylvan Caryatid. While saving for mana, you may want to burn the board with some
Lightning Strikes or
Magma Jets. At around turn 3-4, start bringing out the land destroyers. On turn 6 above, do an alpha strike with either tribute or monstrous creatures. GG.
