This is a deck I'm currently running for Standard FNM. It started as an idea from the Ertai's Meddling article on the Boros Intro Deck, as well as inspiration from the Wizard's article "Building on a Boros". Originally the 4-drops were Spark Troopers, but it's fragile 1 toughness (often a victim to quick pings) was a bit of a risk. Lifegain on my side wasn't that important, as taking damage isn't something I worry about early to mid game (there's a lot of control decks in my local meta). I'm trying out Hellriders until rotation then possibly Tajic/Firemane Angel will step up. Reckless Waif, Boros Elite, and Gather the Townsfolk are all great plays early game as well as pumping Champion quickly. Frontline Medic is of course for the Bonfires and Sphinx's Revelation plays that often give this deck trouble, and the indestructibility helps when you just want to keep the pressure up by swinging with everything. Searing Spear is a great utility burn in this deck, and has won a few games just as lucky topdeck. Boros Charm is insurance against Supreme Verdict, and the 4 damage burn helps finish games as well.
This deck has been doing well at FNM, winning at least half it's games and going 3-2 last week against some tough control decks such as Bant Control and Fog/Turbofog. I'm still learning how to play this deck more effectively against control and strategies that can disrupt the Boros synergy. Junk Rites is also a nightmare to play.
I also have 2x Thalia, some Warleader's Helix, Blaze Commando, and Legion's Initiative I'd like to try. However, they seem suited for more of a mid-range deck, as this deck likes to be set up and and rolling by turn 3 or 4 at the latest. Any help or suggestions are welcome, thanks!
