I'm an old school (1995) player who has recently gotten back into the game. I don't have much of a budget for cards, so I sorta needed to commit to one deck in order to pull my resources. I based this mostly on my own affinity for the Red/White, combined that with cards that I managed to pull, and built from there. I committed to Boros Battalion. I've had some wonderful moments with the deck, but recently i've hit some massively discouraging walls. I would LOVE some help in making this as effective as possible. I'm still missing a few duel lands, but i'm working on getting. more.
Tactics
Obviously i'm trying to go for battalion as quickly and as consistently as possible. This deck tends to build fairly quick, and can alpha strike an opponent in one round. usually about round 6. This of course depends on the deck i'm playing. I"m arguing with myself as to how many creatures I should put in, so for now I'll commit to on the heavy side, with few spells.
The main idea is to get a round 3 battalion if possible, but with multiple 3 drop, and 4 drop options for later rounds, as well as 2 Aurelia's. When I get her out in battalion it's often a win. I added the Gideon's for 2 reasons. He can give me battalion as well as a threat of a board wipe. One of my biggest possible synergies (alas, i have yet to see it happen) is Legion's initiative + Aurelia, or +Gideon. L.I. +aurelia+ 4 attacks in one round (due to exile rules), and L.I. +gideon equals creature-flicker and board wipe.
I've committed myself to this deck and I just want it to run as best as possible. I only play FNM and casually. I played a version of this deck, as I am constantly renovating it, at my first FNM and was 2-2.
Thanks for the help all!
