Modern Burn, the deck that people say just "counts to twenty". However both you and I know it is far more than that. Sequencing and timing are big parts of how this deck plays, and determine if you float or drown. Is it a complicated deck to play? Not at all, but it doesn't mean it takes little or no skill to properly pilot this deck.

:
Goblin Guide -- The defacto red one drop creature. Hasteful 2/2 with a downside that isn't all that bad. The real question is, why NOT play this? It was once an expensive card, but has become much more affordable after the recent printing in Modern Masters 2017.
Monastery Swiftspear -- Another hasty one drop. This time a 1/2, but with prowess. While it might not be better than a Guide on turn 1, after that it has the potential to become just as good or better.
:
Eidolon of the Great Revel -- The modern Pyrostatic Pillar. Yes, this does hurt you too, but more often than not you can out race the damage it deals to you. It even works as an attacker or a chump blocker when you want to get rid of it.
:
Lightning Bolt -- Enough said.
:
Skullcrack -- 2 mana, unredirectable burn spell with the added benefit of players not being able to gain life and damage not being able to be prevented the turn it was cast.
:
Searing Blaze -- This card is most useful when you have a landfall trigger. It goes from dealing 1 and 1, to dealing 3 and 3. From my perspecive there aren't a lot of good targets for this card in the meta right now. Decks it does well dealing with are the mirror and Affinity. It does kill Dredge's creatures, but all in all it almost doesn't matter if they die or not, because they come right back. Noble Hierarch is a pretty good target for this. In fact, I have used this on my own Swiftspear before to win around a Leyline of Sanctity.
This section will be short and sweet for now, but I hope to expand eventually.
Dredge on MTGGoldfish
Dredge uses their graveyard? Pull in those Rest in Peace. Problem solved. From what I've played against Dredge, you really don't even need them because you're faster, but put them in anyway.
Death's Shadow Aggro on MTGGoldfish
This is a tough one for both ends. They have to make sure they make the right decisions about hurting themselves while you're hurling burn spells at them. Overall, in a situation where the pilot is experienced, Death's Shadow Aggro has the upper hand. Rest in Peace is good tech against them, play it ASAP. It takes away their Tarmogoyfs, delerium for Traverse the Ulvenwald, and potentially the flashing back of Lingering Souls. This deck tears apart your hand with their numerous discard spells, so make sure to watch out for that.
I use Eighth Edition Mountain #345. It is my favorite art for Mountain, and it is from the first set I played with. If you have any foils, I am looking for them! Contact me.
My Lightning Bolts are Unlimited Edition signed by none other than the late Christopher Rush.
57 / 60 Mainboard Foil
12 / 15 Sideboard Foil

03 / 60 Mainboard Nonfoil
02 / 15 Sideboard Nonfoil

For the build as of 2017-04-26, 12 of the non-foil mainboard cards cost $1553.90. This does not take in to account the one of Wooded Foothills that is not foil. Idealy that would be a Scalding Tarn. This also does not take into account the foil Onslaught fetchlands, which would be another $854.88. Khans are okay for the time being.

Updates Add

For the mainboard I decided to go the ol' all 4 ofs route, and 20 lands. 12 fetchlands (3 of each red fetchland), 3 fast lands, 3 shock lands (2 Sacred, 1 Stomping), and 2 basics.

For the sideboard, I took the time to think about exactly what decks I'd run into at my LGS (though at the moment, the meta is a little screwed up due to people being home for the holidays). And this is what I came up with for boarding against them.

1x Anger of the Gods -- higher damage sweeper than my favored Volcanic Fallout, however it can be countered. The only deck that I need to worry about counters for my sweeper is Storm, and we only have one every so often.
1x Chained to the Rocks -- Inspired by this, I decided to try this out. I'm not sure how much I like it with the smaller amount (2) of targeted non-red removal.
2x Deflecting Palm -- Death's Shadow, Jund, Junk, etc. This can turn around a near fatal blow to me coming out ahead. Really a staple.
3x Destructive Revelry -- Affinity remains a difficult matchup, also important for the enchantments.
1x Path to Exile -- The other half of my non-red removal.
2x Rest in Peace -- A good number of decks I regularly play against utilize the graveyard for gains, shut that down.
1x Shattering Spree -- Fear of Chalice of the Void in the two Eldrazi Tron decks, and one weird Junk deck.
2x Stony Silence -- Again, Affinity.
2x Sudden Shock -- We have a lot of creature based decks that do naughty things at instant speed. These should take care of those.
