I wanted to play a mainly red deck featuring Purphoros, but I didn't want to go all aggro. I play magma jet over shock and lightning strike for the scry, to set up the late game. As appose to most aggro decks, this deck has a good late game. Assemble the legion/elspeth with purphoros ends the game quickly, and Boros reckoner makes combat very tricky for my opponents.Fantic of mogis is a good alternativ game-ender. Boros charm gives me a very handy tool. Adding white to the deck also gives me a lot of good options when it comes to sideboarding.
Sideboard explained:
Imposing sovereign: For the mirror match-up, slows down hasty decks.
Revoke exinstence: I chose this over wear//tear because it hits gods aswell as the underworld connections/bident of thassa etc.
Street spasm: Good against weenies and swarms.
Pithing needle: For those pesky plainswalkers ++
Last breath: Deals with nightveil specter and grey merchant. It's a better answer to voice of resurgence than magma jet, because it exiles instead of killes. It is also a good answer to master of waves, which this deck can struggle with removing due to pro red.
Mizzum mortars: clears my opponents side of the board, hits stormbreat dragon, archangle of thune, brimaz and blood baron.
Skullcrack: Comes in against grey merchant or sphinx's revelation.
Spirit of the Labyrinth: This in combination with skullcrack cancels out spinx's revelation. Comes mainly in against control. A 3/1 body puts the control player on a nice clock.
Imposing sovereign and Spirit of the Labyrinth are both two-drops with white casting-cost, so if I side them in, I add an extra white-source from my board.
I still haven't found the perfect sideboard plan against pack rat. Please comment if you have. :)
