Ok, I've made some serious changes to this deck since I realized how ridiculously fast the Boros guild is since the release of Gatecrash. My goal is to battalion-swing with
Frontline Medic
(bonded with
Lightning Mauler
) by turn 3. Then drop the
Hellrider
and swing all by turn 4 with a guaranteed 4 dmg from
Hellrider
's effect, plus the 11(or so) damage coming from attacking creatures that are all indestructable.
I also have
Pillar of Flame
and Searing Spear for some control and Boros Charm is just awesome.
The "infinite life combo" with the Boros Reckoner is in here as well. I could (potentially) get it off by turn 4 if I had the right draw or if I had a close enough draw and my opponent isn't paying attention to it. If I had a "not as good" draw I still may be able to get the combo off by turn 5.
To pull this combo off (in case you don't know it) all you've got to do is temporarly make Boros Reckoner: 1) have lifelink (I use
Nearheath Pilgrim
), 2) become indestructable (I use either Boros Charm or
Frontline Medic
), then 3) take damage (this can be either combat damage or damage from one of my own burn spells). Once this is setup, you use the reckoner's ability to damage himself over and over again while you are gaining life from it each time.
However this combo is usually not what I'm aiming for in any particular game I play with this deck. I'd like to make people think that's what I'm going for because they always like to take out the reckoner first and, honestly, I'm good with that.
My sideboard is (mainly) for the people at my FNM who also play Boros. Most of them play boros humans which is why I put Stromkirk Noble in there as well as
Volcanic Strength
. I included 2 additional
Pillar of Flame
's for a slight protection against undying zombies. I also had to put a mountain in there to fix my mana curve if I have to take out a lot of white cards and put red cards in their place. Everything else in the sideboard is just there to change things up.
Let me know what you think about this deck. Any constructive criticism is very welcome, thanks!
