Your other option instead of life gain could be running a couple of Path to Exile s to just get rid of pesky creatures.

I never thought of that option. Thanks!

Happy to help. Also, You should probably look at your mana base. None of your mainboard relies on a specific land type, so its worth running some mana fixing. You have a few options, Temple of Triumph is always nice, though it does come into play tapped. Clifftop Retreat is always a safe bet, however the best two are Rugged Prairie and Sacred Foundry (however they will be the most expensive but far). You might even consider one or two Slayers' Stronghold s as they let you get some extra damage in.

If I could make a recommendation though, for the final version of your deck, things like Boros Guildgate and Boros Garrison will be far too slow and shouldn't be used.

Sounds like a good idea for this deck, and it should solve my manna problem. It's not too bad but I can see it beckoning a problem later in the game.

Its surprisingly annoying how often it comes up, even in two colour decks. I run a blue/black rogue deck and the amount of times I have been screwed of a certain mana colour even with lots of dual lands....... Mana fixing is one of the most crucial things in the game, thats why lands usually make up half the cost of most decks. Also, with duals, you should be able to cut back to 22 lands so you can run 60 cards. Its a good number to run.

I'll look into that manna fixing and getting more dual color lands.

Dual lands are definitely a necessity if you're gonna run so much stuff w/ 2 symbols in the cost. The situation I foresee driving me off the walls the most is hitting a 3rd land and you won't get a choice of whether or not you can cast Archetype of Courage or Archetype of Aggression , the mana will decide for you, so to speak. Early game, I think Archetype of Courage is more useful so the ratios you have are pretty good, actually but you just need more flexibility early on.Would definitely suck to sit there w/ 3 plains and a Lightning Bolt just sitting in your hand mocking you. I've found it useful to just google search "mtg dual color lands" and then cross referencing w/ other sites for what are the ones the work within your budget. Some of those things can be pricey as hell.

Maybe what I should do is keep half my basic lands or so and replace the other half with Guildgates and dual colors.

As for Archetype of Aggression actually I currently use him in my early game to add a psychological aspect of taking away trample form everyone else and giving it to my creatures. In the late game I use him to just destroy the board with my bigger drops.

Alright. I've decoded to leave this as is and instead focus on the manna base issue. That said what types of lands should I be switching in for the basic lands. And how many basic lands should I keep.

8 dual lands is usually enough, with 7 of each basic land. But it depends on the number of cards with more than one of a colour symbol, e.g. Archetype of Courage needs white/white to drop. Obviously If you ran 4x Rugged Prairie , 4x Sacred Foundry and 4x Clifftop Retreat you would be more than set, but that would also be at least $100 for the lands. If you are going to use lands that have to enter tapped, Temple of Triumph is your best bet. they should only be a few dollars and are exponentially better than the guildgates.

Eight now I'm on a tight budget so I can't really spend more than forty dollars on this and most of that is going to what left of the creatures I have to get. Freaking Auriok Champion alone is costing me $15 a piece.

Yeah, they're not a cheap card. Worth it though. For now then I would personally go for 4x Temple of Triumph (depending on cost), 3x Boros Guildgate and 3x Evolving Wilds . It will be much slower than desired but you can always upgrade later.

I'd go for 4 Lightning Helix . Great removal and lifegain. Maybe get rid of the two Shock ?

For this deck speed means nothing. If it's a bit slower that's fine as long as I can drop enough cards to block the first shots.

Clifftop Retreat is significantly better than the guildgates, but it costs a couple bucks.

The only real difference I see is the Scry one. While that has it's advantages right now I'm just trying not to get manna screwed or color screwed in every other game.

Finally got to ordering those cards. Now just have to wait.

Another recommendation for the deck would be to add another Aurelia, the Warleader . I know you can only have one in play at a time, but since you don't have much in the way of card draw it will help you drawing into it.

That would be good. But expensive for me. I've already hit my $80 cap for this one.

I'm not quite sure why you kept 2 assault griffin when you could have 4 seraph of the sword. Also Spear of Heliod is an upgrade over glorious anthem.

It was cheaper...
