I've tried a few combinations to make Luminarch Ascension really useful, and this is what I finally landed on.
I decided to try a combination that relied on NOTHING but enchantments which is nice because of Sigil of the Empty Throne
Luminarch Ascension is still the most important card, seeing how it's both your only real form of offense. So to help it activate there's plenty of removal enchantments to help keep you from taking damage, namely:
Oblivion Ring
, Journey to Nowhere, and Soul Snare.
In addition if you get enough mana out,
Delaying Shield
guarantees that each opponent's turns deal you no damage, giving Luminarch Assension it's counters.
The deck loves having lots of mana, if not for casting the 4 and 5 cost spells, then to create more angel tokens via Sigil of the Empty Throne by casting more enchantments or to spend on Luminarch Ascension's abillity, so the deck has Temple of the False God and
Land Tax
to help get lots of mana out while thinning the mana in the deck so you draw more enchantments.
lastly Phyrexian Unlife combos with
Delaying Shield
to make you invincible to damage effects. Of course this is a defense heavy deck already with lots of removal, and the ability to cast Intangible Virtue to give your angel tokens Vigilance so they can block after they've attacked.
However no matter how you look at it, Enlightened Tutor, is the most powerful card in the deck, if it's not giving you mana via
Land Tax
on turn 2, then it's giving you your game-win condition, Luminarch Ascension or it's helping you get the Phyrexian Unlife +
Delaying Shield
combo out.
Note that against other mana-low decks, if you take the first turn you may choose to not play a land on a turn even if you have one in your hand you could play so that
Land Tax
can activate to ensure you do play a land on every turn after that for awhile. This does slow you down by 1 turn but you can return the favor on your opponent by using your removal to remove some of their cards from the game, in effect slowing them down by one turn (if not more) as well.
