Mono-green + artifact can be fast and cool for an infect deck, but I was wondering about how to increase the effectivenes of my mono-black infect deck and it should be green, so I can put a few more buffs and destroy things that black cannot! Take a look on Infect new generation and give ur feedback if possible. Good deck btw, +1!

For a mono-green build, this looks excellent by this point. Consider Viridian Corrupter if you don't mind curving out at 3, maybe Wild Defiance as a one-of. If you can afford them, Noble Hierarch and a few fetches would add speed and consistency, maybe think about adding Gitaxian Probe to scout and draw. The information the probes provide can put you ahead in some matches. If you can't afford the Hierarchs and still like extra mana, think about Birds of Paradise . Overall it looks like a real contender, in a format where most infect is Green/Blue.

Why is poluted delta in the deck if you have no swamps or islands?

December 1, 2014 10:35 p.m.

Overgrown Tomb is a swamp and Breeding Pool is an island. Note that it doesn't say "basic".

I don't understand the 1 copy of Dryad Arbor because it has sumoning sickness and doesn't have infect. Doesn't it just slow the deck down a lot?

December 23, 2014 12:43 p.m.

Dryad Arbor is a chump blocker that you can flash in via fetch land.

Oh, okay. Never mind, that's pretty cool. thanks for the explanation YamishiTheWickedOne.

Overall really nice deck! But you have to many targets and not enough pump spells. So I would recommand removing the 2 Viridian Corrupter since its a bit slow for infect, and remove one land, and add three Giant Growth or to complete your playset of Groundswell. Also, can you please comment on my Mono-Green infect? Here is the link The complete budget mono green infect (for 200$)

Thanks for your suggestions ;) but I must say, that I was improving this build for more than 1 year and I really stand behind it! Now I will tell you why I play it this way. Viridian Corrupter is very useful against Spellskite which is really disaster for this deck (and nowadays a lot of decks on the field play it in the MB). Sometimes it can be very useful when your opponent plays Chalice of the Void. It means answer on this very bad artifacts in the 1st game + 2/2 Infect creature.

I have recognised that 22 lands is for this deck ideal. Very important is that al lot fo them has another ability than mana ability. Pendelhaven and Cathedral of War are pumping. You must Inkmoth Nexus count much more as creature than land. veri strong synergy can be Wooded Foothills or Windswept Heath + Dryad Arbor as chump blocker or lunch for Liliana of the Veil.

22 lands and 16 creatures (including Inkmoth Nexus) really decrases number of Mulligans, because you need to have on the hand 2 lands and at least 1 infect creature.

And the last thing what I want to tell you is that you really need protect your infect creatures against opponents removals (Vines of Vastwood, Apostle's Blessing and Ranger's Guile).

The deck is not so fast as with more Groundswell and Giant Growth. But more lands and more answers ot the opponents spells and permanents makes this deck much more consistent and competitive!

These are my suggestions how to build MonoG Infect. I hope that it will help you in building your own deck. GOOD LUCK

Hello,

I think that running Spellskites in place of Viridian Corrupter is better. First of all, if the opponent uses their own Spellskite, you can have a small war over the spell and then win through normal damage. Secondly, if you get 2 Spellskites and a Wild Defiance out, you can "juggle" spells and get insane pumps. It is also very helpful in the mirror.

Secondly, I think running 4 Gitaxian Probes is very strong. It fuels Become Immense and lets you essentially run only 56 cards in your deck, which is very strong in this sort of deck. It is even better if you splash green, which I will discuss in the following paragraph.

Thirdly, I think you should run fetchlands (such as Wooded Foothills and Windswept Heath). These lands fuel Become Immense, provide minor deck thinning (virtually nonexistent, but it's still technically an upside), and allow you to splash blue with Breeding Pools. Blue gives you Blighted Agent, Sleight of Hand (which is super awesome tech), Twisted Image sideboard to help you deal with Spellskites, and many others.

Lastly, I think that running 2 Spider Umbras is probably superior to running 2 Ranger's Guiles, as the pump is permanent and you already have 8 cards to deal with path.

Thank you for your consideration!

Herpaderp. Splash blue, not green. Splashing green in mono green is pretty hard.

March 2, 2015 10:43 p.m.

I feel like the Ranger's Guiles don't do enough. And I second the notion of mainboarding at least 1 Spellskite. Try and save up for 4 Noble Hierarch if you can, until then you could substitute Birds of Paradise.

March 3, 2015 12:03 a.m.

Oh. If you're not running Ichorclaw Myr, drop the rancors ASAP. I suggest replacing them with 4 Gitaxian Probe. Seeing your opponent's hand lets you plan your game, and the information gives you an edge. Getting to draw for no mana is also nice. You can also try Distortion Strike and Sylvan Scrying to search Inkmoth Nexus.

March 3, 2015 12:06 a.m.

Whoops, just realized you're not playing blue. Guess I'm just used to seeing every infect build going that route.

Guys, thank you for your suggestions! There is one important poit! Botulotoxin is build as MONOGREEN Infect Combo, I know that UG Infect is the strongest as play it Pros, but it wont be my build. And I dont have enough money for cards as Noble Hierarch or Spellskite. Gitaxian Probe is definitelly very strong, but now it is very expensive C. Im waiting for MM 2015, because there is big chance that these cards will be reprinted. Spider Umbra is definitely very interesting and I must think about it ;) but there ar poitns why I think that Ranger's Guile is better, you can react with it on opponents removal (and skilled and commpetitive players against Infect has every time open mana for removal) and you can use it as combat trick!

Well, look at you. Moving on up, I see. This looks not far off from your standard fare competitive infect build now.

Pithing Needle is something I haven't seen in an Infect SB but it seems pretty sweet. What decks do you usually bring it in against?

Sure you've heard this before, but have you tried Groundswell?

June 29, 2015 5:09 p.m.

Have you thought of trying out Dryad Arbor? It makes for a good surprise chump blocker if you're sitting on a fetch, and can keep Liliana from making you sac your important creatures.

June 30, 2015 5:19 a.m.

I see you have one sided. I was just wondering about maining it since Abzan is so common right now.

Hey, I really like your list! And a big "Huzzah!" for your success in the PPTQ! Continue to spread the Phyrexian cause. +1 from me.

A few questions, though:

  • Have you thought about running Serum Visions over Sleight of Hand? I think Serum Visions digs deeper and gives you more choice than Sleight of Hand, and for the same cost.
  • No countermagicks main board? I find that having a pair of Dispels (soon to be Spell Pierces) main boarded is incredibly useful. I don't run the Ichorclaw Myr anymore, as great as he was, and I relegated all of the Spellskites to the side board to make room. But I suppose it depends on your preference and meta.
  • How did you 2-0 affinity like that? I've never had that good of a match with affinity. Did they get bad hands or misplay? I don't mean to insult your skills, as my next question would be to ask if you simply outplayed them. Did you Pithing Needle their Arcbound Ravager or Mox Opal? That seems like it would put a dent in their plans. I may have to take your lead and put one in my SB. In any case, I'd love to hear about your matchup with affinity, as I would like to increase my matchup against the fellow who runs it at my FNM.
  • If you have any interest in checking out my deck, I'd appreciate any comments and criticism. Infect is my first modern deck, and I don't plan on leaving it any time soon, so I want to make my deck and play as powerful as possible, and I believe an important part of that is feedback. Anyways, here is the link The Glory of Phyrexian Perfection [PRIMER] if you want to take a look.

Best of luck, and may our Phyrexian patrons smile upon you.

When you (prihodaj) played in the final round of the PPTQ was it the same storm player as you played in round 1?
