So what's going on with this deck?

The whole point of this deck is getting your Phylactery Lich out as fast as possible and attached to either Darksteel Relic or Darksteel Axe to make them truly invulnerable. Once you get your Lich out, you need to build your poisonous Voltron god by making him unblockable and swing for an instant win with infect or direct damage.

Use Your equipment!

Inquisitor's Flail for double strike for 10 (or 14 with Darksteel axe). This card is very important to equip.

Prowler's Helm/Predator's Gambit/Gruesome Deformity gives you unblockable access to their health.

Phyresis/Tainted Strike -- Poison. If you have one of these attached with Prowler's Helm/predator's gambit and Inquisitor's Flail on you Lich, you can win the game in one strike.

Your best friends

Gifted Aetherborn and Vampire Nighthawk are your Lich's best friends.

Their deathtouch will protect you and lifelink will help mitigate damage. Nighthawk's flying will usually give you good cover as well as strike for lifelink. I have actually won several games by powering up the Nighthawk before my Lich came out.. Especially if you equip Vampire Nighthawk with Inquisitor's Flail and Darksteel Axe and Predator's Gambit, that's 12 in the air plus 12 health back to you and an instant win if you have Phyresis/Tainted Strike in play.

A little bit of tutor.

Core combos:

Darksteel Relic/Darksteel Axe + Phylactery Lich + Prowler's Helm + Inquisitor's Flail + Tainted Strike

Darksteel Relic/Darksteel Axe + Phylactery Lich + Prowler's Helm + Inquisitor's Flail + Phyresis

Darksteel Relic/Darksteel Axe + Phylactery Lich + Predator's Gambit + Inquisitor's Flail + Tainted Strike

Darksteel Relic/Darksteel Axe + Phylactery Lich + Predator's Gambit + Inquisitor's Flail + Phyresis

Darksteel Axe + Prowler's Helm + Vampire Nighthawk + Inquisitor's Flail + Tainted Strike

Darksteel Axe + Prowler's Helm + Vampire Nighthawk + Inquisitor's Flail + Phyresis

Darksteel Axe + Predator's Gambit + Vampire Nighthawk + Inquisitor's Flail + Tainted Strike

Darksteel Axe + Predator's Gambit + Vampire Nighthawk + Inquisitor's Flail + Phyresis

Phylactery Lich when supplemented with Darksteel Axe, Predator's Gambit and Inquisitor's Flail does 18 direct damage to health in a strike or an instant win if you have Phyresis/Tainted Strike in play.

Phylactery Lich + Prowler's Helm + Darksteel Axe x2 + Tainted Strike = 10 direct poison damage AKA game win.

Vampire Nighthawk + Predator's Gambit + Inquisitor's Flail + Tainted Strike = 10 poison damage AKA game win.

Looking for suggestions on "speeding up" this deck. It is absolutely godlike once it gets rolling, but it takes too long to get there, whether it be mana not being where it needs to be or bad draws. I'm open for suggestions for different cards, omissions and additions. Now I know this marked as budget, but I'm definitely willing to make this a non-budget deck as long as the prices doesn't get about like $100 haha. Thanks!

Updates Add

2x Gruesome Deformity and 1x Predator's Gambit has been switched out for 3x Key to the City. This card is cheap to run, doesn't care if our opponents have black creatures AND allows for a second draw a turn.
