BIG REWORK INCOMING, THIS LIST IS VERY MUCH WIP

Competitive Brago Stax List, aiming to be optimized for my playgroups banlist(= Orignal CMDR Banlist + Protean Hulk + Sol Ring + Mana Crypt + Mana Vault + Winter Orb + MLD).

This deck aims to pull of the combo win as fast as possible and disrupt the table with stax pieces in the meantime as much as possible.

Notable combos are:

Brago, King Eternal + Strionic Resonator + 2 Mana from nonlands gives us infinite nonland flicker. With that we can flicker:

Mortarpod to ping the table to death.

Azorius Signet or any other good rock to make infinite mana(in colors).

Sensei's Divining Top or Oath of Jace to draw our deck. From there we can also:

Venser, Shaper Savant to bounce all permanents our opponents control

Rest in Peace + Helm of Obedience to exile our opponents libraries

Parallax Wave exile all creatures we want by cleverly stacking the triggers

Act of Authority to exile all artifacts and enchantments

Cloud of Faeries to untap all our lands or use Academy Ruins as often as we want.

Other noteable combos include:

Rings of Brighthearth + Basalt Monolith (+ Sensei's Divining Top) infinite mana (and draw)

Rest in Peace + Helm of Obedience exile 1 players library per turn, or more with Bragos help

Whirler Rogue + Static Orb/Trinisphere/(Winter Orb) we get to untap/pay less/(sadly banned)

Other than that, Brago, King Eternal obviously synergizes very strongly with the rest of the deck. We make most of our mana with mana rocks, which we can all use twice thanks to our commander. We run LOTS of tutors to find our combo and stax pieces and we can break parity very consistently with the help of Brago, Teferi, Temporal Archmage, Whirler Rogue and the fact that most our our mana comes from artifacts.

For now we'll try this counterless build, since with room for at most 4 counters, we usually won't have any in hand anyway; especially in a 4 player pod it won't make a difference. Playing without counters makes room for more card draw, which we direly need if we want to deploy stax pieces while preparing for the combo at the same time.

Noteable Exclusions:

Force of Will - We simply don't run enough blue for it to be good.

Shimmer Myr - Sometimes we combo off with infinite mana, draw and no wincon. From there we can't play Mortarpod and win on the spot. We could with Shimmer Myr but instead, Venser, Shaper Savant takes over from there to basically win/set up the win for next turn.

Winter Orb - My playgroup sadly banned it, because many non-stax players used to run it, simply to compensate for their bad deckbuilding, to buy them more time, needlessly drawing out games without a plan to capitalize on it.

Thassa, God of the Sea - While she is awesome in the non-stax list, she had to go out to make room for stax pieces. Whirler Rogue does what she does, for 1 mana cheaper the turn he comes down and then for free, disables stax pieces before our turn and makes blockers. While not as easily tutorable, I'd say he's still better.

Noteable Inclusions:

Whirler Rogue For already explained reasons. Might not be worth it in the long run, but for now he paid off well enough.

Mortarpod Most competitive Brago decks don't run a wincon. They simply bounce everything with Venser, Shaper Savant and slowly kill everyone with combat damage. However Mortarpod not only kills off the table but also some mana dorks when played early, which is EXACTLY what a stax deck wants to do. Terribly underplayed IMHO.

Strip Mine Wasteland and the other land destruction lands. Maze of Ith and Spires of Orazca   simply disable this deck. While we do have an alternative wincon, it is not ideal, so we have to be ready for them at any time.

Half of our lands are or can fetch islands and being able to use Castle Vantress when bricking out can be huge, especially when it's draw or filtering draws. Mystic Sanctuary provides almost free utility to fetchlands. Cutting Mystic Gate means we can produce slightly less white, which can hurt us since we have a few important early white 1 drops and some double white costs, but that should be addressed by Plaza of Heroes.

Plaza is a test change; if it turns out to hurt more than help, I'll change Plaza back to Mystic Gate. The option to incidentally save Brago or Hokori is huge though, and since we run a handful of legends and aim to get Brago out anyway, getting it to produce coloured mana shouldn't be that big of a deal.
