Also, I don't know if you knew this yet, but Plasm Capture is to my knowledge the only instant or sorcery that has a triggered ability. Counter their spell, then they pass turn. Untap, and you've certainly got 2 mana to resonate the ability. 10 extra mana is always better than 5 right?

hey I'm fairly new to the game and I've been trying to build a deck with some similarities to this one and I was wondering what do you look for when you are satisfied with the hand you draw ( like what are the requirements you look for you before you stop redrawing a hand with this deck). do you make sure you have a certain number of lands, creatures, do you make sure you can play cloud fin, etc?

zachofpotatoes an ideal starting hand would be like 3 lands, maybe 3 creatures in this kind of deck and an instant or sorcery. Even 2 lands could suffice but only if the cards in your hand have a low CMC, like Simic Charm or Cloudfin Raptor or Shambleshark

Man I never even noticed Plasm Capture was a triggered ability, that's awesome.
Perfect hand would be 3 mana, a Cloudfin Raptor , Gyre Sage , Vorel of the Hull Clade and Kalonian Hydra and hope to draw a Strionic Resonator by turn five. But this is just the hand that does the 56 damage turn five combo. But in general I like to keep 3 mana hands, 2 if I have Gyre Sage and low cmc creatures, which ideally is what you wanna start with here. Mana and low cmc creatures is never bad, nor is Simic Charm

I actually really like this deck, +1 from me. I have a very similar evolve deck, but have been running Bioshift 's and Give / Take 's, and I just don't like them, as I'm a bigger fan of control. I think you nailed it on the head with the Kalonian Hydra 's, Progenitor Mimic 's, and Plasm Capture 's. They make this deck even more fun. I've always been a big fan of Strionic Resonator in this type of deck, too. Awesome job.

Thank you much for the praise and the +1. I know what you mean though, those are both cards I used to run but they're not always as effective as id like them to be

Trust me, I see exactly where you're coming on every point, but the truth is I've already tried all of those things out and this deck runs much better now for me. I've thought about going back to splash black for removal but I never really need it in this deck. Usually by the time anything threatening gets out I'm established enough not to worry. And if something beefy does get out, sometimes id rather just mimic it.
