Most of the sideboard cards look like they are used in case the opponent is using a control deck

what would be the correct creatures/cards to swap out in case you were playing a control deck with this one?

September 15, 2013 9:30 p.m.

Casino647 says... #3

Since I didn't make this deck I'm just guessing

2 Zameck Guildmage for 2 Vorel of the Hull Clade

Couple of counter spells in place of Strionic Resonator

Maybe take out a few Cloudfin Raptor , Elusive Krasis and Gyre Sage for some more counter spells or Bioshift or Predator's Rapport

But I really don't know it depends on the deck you are playing against

Yea the problem with Thassa, is finding what is less needed than her. @CrispyFried Casino647 is pretty much absolutely right. The side board is really centered around combatting control. As well as the Bioshift and now Ranger's Guile against removal heavy decks. Up against control however, the counter spells and Savage Summoning come in handy.

any reason you're not a fan of Elvish Mystic or Experiment One ?

Casino647 says... #6

Gyre Sage is way better than Elvish Mystic .

September 16, 2013 5:33 p.m.

mpeach1 says... #7

Yea for sure, Gyre Sage is way better than Elvish Mystic in this deck, he serves for all the ramp I need really. As for Experiment One and many people have asked this..I used to run it in this deck, and it just never played the way I wanted it to. People freak out about regenerate or something and its always like priority one to get removed early on. For my purposes at the moment, Cloudfin Raptor is really the only one drop I need in here.

Isn't it good if they freak out and burn a remove on a Experiment One ? That's just better for your hydras and biomancers right? I love low mana cost bombs that people freak out about and remove because you know you can play your cards that really count with less fear of removal.

the only thing i could see Experiment One even replacing though is Shambleshark and the shark has much better synergy for evolving Gyre Sage which is very important. that's why i would personally not run Experiment One . there are just better options in this deck for the slots.

Scavenging Ooze evolves Gyre Sage , gets counters, makes you live longer. What's your opinion on him vs the Shark?

September 17, 2013 10:40 a.m.

Wizmin says... #11

that's a very debatable option actually. Scavenging Ooze is a stand alone just awesome creature whereas Shambleshark is cool because it can give you more options to play turn 2 (or turns after) because of the lovely flash. for example, with Shambleshark you can just not play anything turn 2 and wait to see if you need to hexproof a creature with Simic Charm or Ranger's Guile because people love to burn evolve weenies and then if you don't just flash shambleshark at the end of your opponents turn or flash him to block (if you so choose) and then you still get the evolve on say Cloudfin Raptor or Gyre Sage and shambleshark gets to ignore sickness (in a sense). Scavenging Ooze like you said makes you live longer which is awesome as well. i think i would personally use the shark, but the ooze is more than definitely worth considering as a sideboard option with 2 or even 3 of them.

opinions on Bow of Nylea in this deck?

September 17, 2013 4:49 p.m.

mpeach1 says... #13

The bow may have a place for sure.As for the ooze vs the shark, shark wins for this deck. I was running 1 Scavenging Ooze but just one isn't worth it, and they're too expensive to seek out more. As for now, its unnecessary.

Great looking deck!!!! I have been looking for a good Simic evolution deck to build upon and i think this is it!!!!! It just hurts my wallet that Kalonian Hydra is $20 bucks each. I have most of this already but what do u guys think would be a good replacement till i get the funds for Kalonian Hydra maybe Primordial Hydra ?????

Oh +1 from me btw :)

MagmaBladez says... #16

@Chi11yD: Primordial Hydra will be rotating in like a week. If that's a problem, Vastwood Hydra or Mistcutter Hydra are economical replacements :D

September 18, 2013 6:03 p.m.

mpeach1 says... #17

Yea for sure, I would go with the Mistcutter personally

nice deck of mine you got there

mpeach1 says... #20

Lol deathtocakes. Running something similar?

September 19, 2013 9:58 a.m.

Wizmin says... #21

just curious, does the Progenitor Mimic come into play often? because that's the only thing im not running in my version of the deck simply because i don't have them. instead i've been using 2 Ranger's Guile and they've been doing great because it's such an easy card to pull off. i'm debating if i should try to track 2 down or not or maybe just use 2 AEtherling s instead. what are your thoughts?

This deck looks really awesome and I am working off this idea to make a deck to use tomorrow night, hopefully I will get to play it a bit tonight so I can see if it works. I do not have all the cards I would like to have for this so will have to change things around a bit but hope to keep the essence of this!

One thing I was noticing though is that some card draw might be nice so I am going to just put in some Zameck Guildmage 's to cover for some of the cards I dont have.Almost tried going W/U/G to fill out the curve but I think Ill stay away from that haha.

deathtocakes: You've got a similar deck to this but just cause it looks the same, doesnt mean its a copy. Look at all the Selesnya decks out there. I made one without looking at any others and it came out looking almost like anything else out there. Just consider it a compliment that two brews turned out good!

Hey mpeach1, real nice deck.

I'm a new player and pulled 2 Kalonian Hydra in my first packs of m14, and really wanting to play them so built off your ideas (hope you don't mind).

I almost have the deck finished, but I'm considering some alterations to possibly splash black for Whip of Erebos and possibly putting some Sylvan Caryatid in to help hit the mana.

I realise this would change the deck a fair bit but wanted to ask your opinions about it. I think it could be a nice combo as you can whip a Kalonian Hydra back (if it's countered or milled or something) and have it swing pretty big with trample, lifelink and interaction with Strionic Resonator or Vorel of the Hull Clade (and Master Biomancer of course) for only 6 mana.

Any opinions and suggestions about how this might work would be really appreciated, as I haven't actually played the deck at all yet.

This deck is really interesting but I wouldn't go for the Progenitor Mimic and the Prophet of Kruphix . I would Increase the number of Vorel of the Hull Clade , wich is a monster card for your strategy. Your deck Is the evolve aggro type, focus on that. Also, I would replace the Prime Speaker Zegana for an extra Kalonian Hydra . You have a potencial monster in your hands, but if you try to open too much your strategy you might loose the focus and get more exposed. If the idea is to use creatures with steroids as fast as you can, focus on that.Cheers!

mpeach1 says... #25

I would be willing to replace zegana with the hydra if I managed to get another, but right now the deck is working fantastically. That prophet is a perfect card for mid range games
