hey this has been a heavy favorite deck of mine since i started playing magic back in mid july and i just tonight finished making my own deck. since you seem to have a pretty good handle on deck building i was wondering if you could check out my WUB control deck Shadows of Fate and let me know what you think. i've been play testing it against a lot of deck and this one specifically and it's been doing really well, but an opinion from a more experienced player would be really awesome.

do you feel like Elusive Krasis and Shambleshark do very well and are essential to the deck? Have you thought about swapping a few of those out or around (and also maybe 1 land too) add some Scavenging Ooze , more Renegade Krasis , or maybe Nylea, God of the Hunt and another Bow of Nylea ? Also have you looked at Reverent Hunter as a possible 3 drop?

No Experiment One ? He seems like a kinda obvious 1-drop for this deck.

If your meta has any need for graveyard hate, I would definitely consider putting a few Scavenging Ooze over Shambleshark . The ooze has the potential to get big fast, even without synergistic cards, and still benefits from Renegade Krasis and Vorel of the Hull Clade .

Very cool deck! +1

Scavenging Ooze is just too expensive for me to seek out multiples. Yes he does well, but he is conditional and doesn't evolve. At the moment, it's too much money to put into an unessential card. I have definitely thought of Nylea though

I pulled a Nylea the other day, and I have been running her in my evolve deck. She is rather badass.

what about Fathom Mage ?

mpeach1 says... #10

The mage is good, but unessential

KingsAegis says... #11

Could you add scavenging ooze it dropped in price recently so it would be cheap to add

Was wondering if u've had the chance to try the deck out against some of the new decks in the current meta??

same, any FNM reports?

mpeach1 says... #14

Nah I've been running the grixis deck I have at fnm lately, but in general unless its control this deck doesn't really lose

No corpsejack menace? :P I'm dissappointed

mpeach1 says... #16

I would run Corpsejack Menace if it was BUG, but I just don't see the point in adding black when this deck is successful as is.

Sundering Growth ? Does the 1 colorless mana for naturalize outweigh the potential of proliferating?

December 8, 2013 3:11 a.m.

rsxbwa says... #18

meant to say populate.

December 8, 2013 3:13 a.m.

mpeach1 says... #19

Not really I've just never actually thought about it because I would have little chances of populating, but I think I may change it

Do you have any strat for control?

Been play testing it and about the only way I get through is wait for a big spell and savage summon a kalonian and pray they don't have a supreme verdict. Otherwise nothing makes it to the board

Absolutely beautiful strategy. I've fallen in love with Simic recently for the Mad Scientist Mucking With Nature feel. One suggestion I may make is ditching Shambleshark , possibly for more Renegade Krasis or Prophet. I have a much more budgeted Simic deck, but in my (much more midrange oriented) experience, the ability to have all of your mana untapped, defacto vigilance and flash on ALL creatures is practically a win-con on its own.

You may also want to mainboard Bioshift in favor of... Well, I don't know. But I do know that it makes an absurd combat trick even when I'm only able to get creatures to about 9/X. They think they've removed the threat when I only have one mana up- Whoops, those counters are now slapped on my Elusive Krasis instead of my Cloudfin. Or inversely, I've swung with everything and have a paltry 0/1 bird? Nope, now it's a 9/10 blocker and their combat trick is dead.

Have you considered Experiment One ?

I noticed with a few draws that is a bit slow without Cloudfin Raptor in the opening hand.

derposaurus says... #24

I think a Mistcutter Hydra could fit in really nicely with this deck, especially with the mana ramp you have going on.
