Scytec, I don't think you understand this format. In EDH, or Commander as some call it, you can use any card in the game. However, you may only have single copies of any card that is not a basic land. You must have one legendary creature taken out of your deck and placed in a special "commander zone". You may cast it at any time. You can only generate mana and have cards that are either colorless or match colors in your commander's mana cost. Don't get me wrong, four Master Transmuter in this deck would be wonderful, but you can't do that in this format.

Oh, no I did not know that...I feel like an idiot. Haha, my bad. Thanks for the info though. Out of curiosity, what is the draw to this playstyle?

What draws you to play this, what reasons make you prefer this game type as opposed to others?

I like it mainly because it's just so different from the other types. Standard, Modern, Vintage, and Legacy are all basically the same; sixty card decks, up to four copies of each card, etc. With Commander, you can have a single creature that you can build a deck around and you don't have to worry about not drawing it because it will always be able to be cast.

I think I would like to try out this game mode...thank you for telling me about it. I will probably make Oros, the Avenger my deck leader though.

You can use whatever commander you want. And another important thing; commander is usually not a competitive format. It's made entirely for fun, and therefore the decks you play should be fun, and not necessarily designed to win. I heard a story about someone who made a deck with Phelddagrif as the commander simply because group-hug is fun to play.

That is awesome. I would like to get involved with it, unfortunately in my area, I only know 2-3 people who play, and none of them run any form of an EDH deck. Haha, so I have no one to play that particular game mode against.

There are usually people who have EDH decks at FNM. Do you go to those?
September 22, 2013 11:16 p.m.
I can not, the nearest FNM gathering from my location is over 45 miles away, and between school, work, and a 9 month old son, finding time to go to Magic tournaments is a little bit impossible. :p Perhaps later in life when things calm down a little bit.

One question...you know you can have up to four of any one card in your deck right? Haha, you don't have to only have a lot of single cards
