Hello! I started at Shards of Alara release and I really enjoyed playing artifacts of Esper. I still like Artifacts theme and your deck looks nice. Of course it would be great to add some useful cards. I would recommend to replace Tezzeret, Master of Metal with Tezzeret the Seeker . Tutors are always needed in EDH. Enlightened Tutor is the best with artifacts.Master Transmuter can also help you a lot. For example it puts into play such monsters as Inkwell Leviathan or Darksteel Colossus. But it also costs 17-20 $. If you are interested in cheaper but useful cards: Indomitable Archangel gives your artifacts shroud and Silverskin Armor turns equipped creature into an artifact and gives it +1/+1. And don't forget about Platinum Angel if you don't want to loose the game :) Good luck!

DRmagic2017 - thank you for your comments! I appreciate your time to throw some advice my way :) I will definitely take a look at the artifacts of Esper. I'll take a look through the cards you suggested, I'm not sure which (if any) I already have but there might be another singles order happening soon!

You actually do have a combo in here :)

Breya, Etherium Shaper + Nim Deathmantle + Ashnod's Altar

Hjaltrohir - Oops! You are, of course, correct. I'll have to decide whether they stay in because it wasn't designed to include them and I just choose not to play with them if they drop or whether to remove one.... I think in the "spirit" of the no-combo design all three cards are there on their own merit and the combo is a side-product but to strictly keep it "no-combo" then I guess one should be replaced!

Hjaltrohir says... #5

Yeah, its up to you. It's possible to play with all three in the deck without comboing off and since all three are strong without real replacements I would recommend keeping them all. If you are set on replacing one, maybe Ashnod's Altar can become Phyrexian Altar?

I love Breya, and it's nice to see other build ideas! I like your style!

Here are some suggestions:

  • What about Cranial Plating? This can make your Thopters more deadly than Sydri.

  • Brainstorm is only good with a lot of deck shufflers (e.g. Fetchlands). Don't play it in this list.

  • Paradox Engine seems very dangerous with Ghirapur Aether Grid, and could be also considered as a Vigilance enabler and a manarock if you have at least another manarock.

  • Have you mana issues? I would try to play a few more manarocks if yes. 10 or 12 total.

Stefouch - Hi and thanks for the comments/suggestion, I really appreciate it!

I completely agree about Brainstorm - I actually cut it from the mainboard and it's just sat in the maybeboard for draw but there's better options out there.

Cranial Plating and Paradox Engine are definitely good ideas. I actually had the Paradox Engine in the deck until I ended up removing some of the rocks. Which also leads on to your last point; how many rocks does the deck need? I honestly am not sure yet but I really like the idea of the synergy with Ghirapur AEther Grid you mentioned so perhaps I need to have a bit of a juggle to fit some more rocks in and throw in the Engine....

Thanks, watch this space for some possible changes!

I saw that spoiler the other day - very exciting :) Looking forward to that set as it's likely to have a few more "Treasure enablers".

This looks amazing.

My only suggestions are the artifact lands.

Vault of Whispers, Ancient Den, Seat of the Synod and Great Furnace.

Hey Philigan87 - thanks for the comment and the +1 :)

I had those in the deck when I first brewed it but I had a long discussion with some friends offline and some guys on the r/EDH subreddit and decided in the end that some basics are more useful. Artifact hate is big in my meta but land destruction isn't and so it was more important to me to keep the land alive than to have a couple of extra artifacts on the board. That might change in the future but for now they stay in the maybeboard :)

Glad you like the deck though - there's a few more really nice Treasure cards coming in RIX I can't wait to add and I'm also trying to streamline the deck so it's a bit faster and a little less janky without losing any of the theme! Watch this space....

I agree with sagramore: I would also love to play more artifact lands in my own Breya deck, but artifact hate is also omnipresent in my meta.

I've just done a reasonably large (13 card) update to the deck after having played it a bit more recently in both single-player and multiplayer games.

The changes are mostly to reduce average CMC, streamline the mechanics, speed it up, improve the manabase a bit (with my pretty shocking card collection!) and hopefully just make the deck play "better".

I have had a few really nice wins with this deck. My favourite so far was against an Animar player with a pretty good deck (not T1/cEDH but well above casual). He kept killing Breya but I had Panharmonicon down and enough ramp that I ended up re-casting her 3 or 4 times then dropping a Mechanized Production on the thopters and winning next turn. Mechanized Production is definitely one of the strongest win-cons in this deck other than tutoring for combos as fast as possible!

Thanks for looking/reading :)

I am very curious on what you decide to do once RIX comes out. It is already hard as it is to take out cards for new ones in my opinion. If you don't mind me asking what is your opinion on Storm the Vault? Also Stefouch posted earlier, Brass's Bounty along with Revel in riches and Mechanized Production is OP especially if you get another turn with Time Sieve. Exciting stuff! lol

sagramore says... #15

Hey Ragnix.

I think Brass's Bounty is going to be an auto-include for sure!

As for Storm the Vault I'm still not sure. If the transform was a "may" then the treasure token generation would be really cool. WIth the number of artifacts in this deck you probably will transform it the turn it's cast. That being said - it's like a blue artifact Gaea's Cradle so that can't be bad! :)

Stefouch - I see your point and I think you're right. I was originally only thinking of the "Treasures win con" in this deck but a huge ramp to blue mana is also something that can't be ignored.

I have a bunch of RIX cards to open tomorrow (if they arrive) so fingers crossed I pull at least one of these! I almost got one at pre-release but my friend sold it to someone else before me :)

So, it turns out I did not open a Storm the Vault  Flip after opening 38 boosters + attending the pre-release! I will be on the lookout to get hold of one (got some sealed events coming up locally) but until then I will have to keep it on the maybeboard as this list represents a deck I own. Watch this space :)

Found the Storm the Vault and put it in in place of the (pretty bad, but on theme) Pirate's Prize.

Got a chance to test Storm the Vault in my Breya's deck yesterday. A bit hard to flip at that time, but then it was pretty cool to have a land of 5-8 mana :P

I have been on the fence about building Breya but after seeing this deck I am sold. You have definitely given me some inspiration on how I would like to build her. Big +1 from me.

sagramore says... #22

Thank you, KayneMarco - what a compliment! Glad I could help.

Breya is such a utility commander it can be tough to give her some identity, but this deck is pretty fun to pilot. In fact the last time I played it I managed to go infinite with colourless mana & thopters but due to the board state that didn't (and couldn't) win me the game. I ended up having to go through a Hellkite Tyrant win and hope I lasted the extra turn :) Sometimes the janky win conditions are the ones that save you!

Myndz says... #23

What do you think about adding the new Karn, Scion of urza to this deck? Im thinking stacking up lots of artifacts and then wham Karn and minus 2 for a nice big fattie :P

April 29, 2018 12:21 p.m.

sagramore says... #24

Hey Myndz. Having played Karn in the pre-release I think he's really cool although I am not yet certain about him in this particular deck. You're right about him swinging in for big damage if you've got lots of artifacts but generally this deck doesn't win through combat so I don't know if it would help.

That being said, he's a reasonable draw engine for not much mana (and easy to cast, being colourless!) so he might be worth a try.

Awesome deck.

Inspired me to rebuild Breya, some fun choices and a nicely balanced deck.

The only question I have is about recursion, do you find you don’t need it?
