I am in the process of reforging my Breya deck (I stopped playing it because I dislike playing infinite combos) and this deck is exactly the inspiriation I needed! Thanks! I have to figure out some other win conditions because the game modes we play forbid winning through "you win the game" cards. I consider Marionette Master and Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer + Darksteel Juggernaut or Broodstar to close out games out of nowhere.
Looking forward to see your deck evolve!

On a seond thought, how do only running 31 lands work out for you? And don't you wake up in the middle of the night, fearing that a blue mage takes control of your Hellkite Tyrant and end you?

Hey, EsperPanorama - There's actually 36 lands because of the artifact lands (I listed them in their own category) :)
Also, you're right about someone stealing my Hellkite Tyrant but I guess there's three ways I look at it:
- There's a few pieces of spot removal in the deck as well as counterspells (~10) so worst case I could remove it or counter the theft in the first place.
- I mostly play in a small group of around 6 players and only one has a deck with creature theft in it, so it doesn't feature much on my radar in my meta.
- I actually think that would be one of the coolest ways to lose a game, so it wouldn't even upset me :) It also means they win, so the game is over and you can all go for the next one, rather than you sitting there on your own waiting for 2 more people to die.
I have run Marionette Master in previous incarnations of this deck, and once it won me the game on the spot (but mostly because I used Strionic Resonator to double the fabricate so she was a 7/6!) but it tended to be a bit slow. The Juggernaut and Broodstar are definitely something to consider though. Thanks!

Why not just make this an all-in combo deck? Breya as a commander draws a lot of hate due to the creature oppression she lays down, so you're generally going to want to win as fast as possible and have many redundant combos. At the very least I suggest Nim Deathmantle as it forms a powerful direct combo with your commander and Ashnod's Altar. Also your lands could go a lot farther with the rest of the shocks, and Ancient Tomb just got a reprint and fits really well into artifact decks.

Hi Golfrolax, thanks for commenting.
This deck has been through a ton of iterations. It started off as my first EDH deck ever as the base precon. I then slowly added and subtracted from it as I began to learn the format. It ended up becoming pretty combo-centric and I don't mind that, but my play group really didn't enjoy it at all. This meant it stayed in my bag most times we met up so I decided to go for something different, that was when I found this deck: Revel in Artifacts and had the inspiration to go for a Treasure tokens theme. At this point I still had things like Nim Deathmantle/Ashnod's combos in there and to be honest I ended up tutoring those to win most games still....
Ultimately I decided to go all-in on an artifact tokens theme (thopters, treasure, myrs, etc.) and ONLY include combos that are thopter-related, taking all the others out.
I agree it's not the most powerful way to build Breya, but my playgroup see it as a "friendlier" way and so I play the deck more than if it was all-in combo Breya.
I do agree that an Ancient Tomb would be great though :)

with that many planeswalkers would you consider running an Arena Rector
January 18, 2019 1:23 p.m.
drsergen - That's not a bad idea at all. I will have to have a think about what would get cut for it. I think I often overlook Arena Rector because most of the planeswalkers that I own are pretty bad, however the ones in this deck fit quite well.

Just wanted to say thanks for posting the deck - I play in a pretty relaxed group (i.e. - no infinite combos), and I just ordered a more budget friendly / casual version of it today! I ended up taking out Phyrexian Arena , Cyclonic Rift , City of Brass , Mana Confluence , and most of the other dual lands (I've got most of what I need already between shock/tap/enters-tapped-unless-you-have-an-X lands) - but I still think it should function relatively well. Yes yes, I'm sure people will guffaw about taking out Cyclonic, but I think I'll be OK without it in my group :)
Thanks again!

Love the deck, been looking for a direction to take Breya in that wasn't combo centric.
Have you considered Smothering Tithe for the deck? Seems to fit both ramp and synergy with the strategy

revenhawk - thanks for the comment, really appreciate it and glad you like it!
bootstraps3412 - thanks for the comment as well! I have definitely considered Smothering Tithe - it's perfect here and I have a copy ready to go in but have been away a while. Tomorrow I'm doing a big overhaul of all my decks and it's going to get put in then!

Hi sagramore!
I can't wait to test this deck with added cards from War of the Spark!
Let us know what is happening with your build!
Will you integrate
Tezzeret, Master of the Bridge
or
Saheeli, Sublime Artificer
?
Would you be interrested to share about your local meta, and ways you found for incredible wins?
And what about superfriends decks?
Thanks for the list!
May 1, 2019 12:54 p.m.
Hey JackDuff thanks for the kind comments!
Tezzeret, Master of the Bridge is an absolute auto-include (I picked him up at the weekend) but haven't worked out what to cut for him yet. I think Saheeli, Sublime Artificer would also be good but there aren't that many servos in the deck so I'm not 100% sure about her yet.
My most common wins actually come from either Revel in Riches or from pinging people with Ghirapur AEther Grid /Breya herself. I got Unwinding Clock out with the aether grid the other day and it was really nasty, especially with Smothering Tithe which probably netted me about 30+ treasure tokens throughout the game.
Will be doing a WAR update soon though :)
I've also made the dubious decision to foil the deck because it's my longest running and probably my most fun. I'm only 30 cards through so far but taking it as a slow burn project.

What about the new Saheeli from WAR Saheeli, Sublime Artificer , you will get Servo instead of Thopters but... This is artefact or Dack Fayden which let's you steal artefact from people ?
May 16, 2019 5:51 a.m.
Oh, nevermind for Saheeli, Sublime Artificer , you've already answered about that, and you havn't already updated with cards from WAR.
But what about Dack Fayden ? :p
May 16, 2019 8:25 a.m.
Hi Repeels - I do have one copy of Dack Fayden but it currently lives in my more competitive deck: Nin, the Narcissist [Primer]. He'd definitely be good for stealing artifacts, but I'm not sure we need his looting effect much in this deck (discarding our hand doesn't help us much). Definitely one to think about though....
May 16, 2019 12:15 p.m. Edited.
Hi ! Thanks for you answer.
I think I would just put him in cauz' I love the card, and sometimes, looting land to draw or stealing a little something could be cool. Otherwise I love the deck, I will change some card for a more combo oriented deck, but the list allowed me to discover a few things. Thanks !

Hi sagramore, I was just building a very similar deck and was looking for cards to put in. Found your deck and now I am putting mine aside and will built this one. I will maybe just adjust the mana base, based on what I have and I am looking to cut Dragon Throne of Tarkir for either The Antiquities War or Coat of Arms . What do you think?
May 24, 2019 4:27 p.m.
Hi Lasdem - thanks for the kind comments, it's the best compliment to know someone is building my deck!
I like both the cards you suggested as replacements for Dragon Throne of Tarkir, I think either could work but I'd maybe lean towards the Coat of Arms because it telegraphs less than Antiquities War.
Tomb of the Spirit Dragon would definitely also work, but often a lot of the tokens aren't creatures so I'd say try it and see how it goes. Let me know though, I'd love to know if it's worth an include!
May 25, 2019 5:38 a.m.
Hi sagramore - I have finished my adaptations, mostly in the manabase. --> Breya Revels in Riches (and Thopters)
I went with Coat of Arms and I have not yet included Tomb of the Spirit Dragon . I probably will run the deck a few times without it.
When looking through your section for card draw and tutor, I found that no tutor is present ;-). What do you think about Tezzeret the Seeker or Enlightened Tutor to find your win conditions? Or do you think that would be too strong for a casual meta?
May 25, 2019 6:52 p.m.
Lasdem - Heh, you're right! I must've lost all the tutors through cuts for other cards....
To answer your questions, it's a bit complicated! Firstly, I will say Tezzeret the Seeker and Enlightened Tutor are both great in this deck and you should probably run them if you have them. When I first built this deck I was using a "shared cards folder" - this meant I kept the real copy of medium/expensive cards in a folder and used a proxy for that card in each of my decks. This way I could use one copy of a card in lots of decks without having to buy a load of copies. After doing this for about a year it started to become a problem with some people in my playgroup. They never said don't do it, but they started to make comments like "your deck doesn't even have real cards in it" when I won games or claiming all my decks were too powerful because I re-used my best cards in them.
In the end, rather than argue, I just decided to get rid of the shared cards folder and so I had to make some cuts. My copy of that Tezzeret is in my strongest deck (Nin, the Narcissist [Primer]) and I haven't had the funds/desire to get a 2nd copy for this one. My Enlightened Tutors are also in other decks.
Tutors overall are also a little frowned upon in my playgroup. The group is small and one person in particular believes that tutors are against the spirit of 100 card singleton, where things should be down to what you draw, and not just tutoring for the same thing every match. I don't agree that tutors are against the spirit of the game, but I also prefer to try and keep everyone happy so I steer a bit more away from them in some decks now as well. I still use them in others, but not all.
Sorry, that's quite a long response but it helps show why some cards might be missing in this deck! I say if you have them, and you like them, put them in :)

Love your deck concept! Breya will always be my number one favorite commander (peep her on my profile) but I love your take on her! I might honeslty try this out in my play group on paper. Thanks for the awesome idea!

ICYMI - your deck was mentioned as the inspiration for an EDHREC article. I tried +ing but apparently I already did, so kudos to you.

Thanks for the kind comments BripManicheye!
As for recursion - in all honesty I haven't had a chance to playtest it loads yet so it's possible that would be helpful. I guess the problem is that if you start to build in recursion then you can lose out on some of the core themes. There is a little bit of it in there for really important pieces (mostly artifacts), e.g. Buried Ruin and Goblin Welder though.
