borderland ranger isn't very good. Maybe replace it with a few Sakura-Tribe Elder . Also, I think you should take out harrow. Also duress is not very good in modern, especially since almost no decks run sweepers. I would mainboard all 4 blightnings, add in a few Grim Lavamancer , and take out harrow, and duress. Also, Inquisition of Kozilek is very good if you can afford it.

Also Kird Ape is very good for budget jund decks.

how about Abrupt Decay then?

m12fox I have 2 in the sideboard. I never sided them in during the tournament though. I already had so much removal that I didn't see the need for them.

final question, why Gruul Keyrune ? wouldn't Rakdos Keyrune be better?

February 24, 2013 3:52 p.m.

m12fox: Funny thing about Gruul Keyrune is that, at first, I had it maindecked but sided it out for Searing Spear after my first round. Rakdos Keyrune or Gruul Keyrune would have been both useless throughout the tournament because there was so much artifact hate.

However, I think I will switch out Gruul Keyrune for Rakdos Keyrune because of the fact it has first strike.

Thanks for the suggestion.

well, congrats at getting third place at a tourney +1, if you want to see it, my deck is modern family :)

I think that Incinerate over Searing Spear is an obvious choice, same CMC and same amount of damage and can help get rid of those pesky regenerators. Cool deck though! :)

MagicMike69 Oh shit, I never thought of that! Thanks for the suggestion. Definitely putting that in.

Sounds like your meta is a very weak meta as in the decks aren't that powerful and many of the best decks are missing. You happen to be playing jund the best deck in the format, but its a mutation with budget options. You should be playing Tarmogoyf , Dark Confidant , Deathrite Shaman , Lightning Bolt , Thoughtseize etc They are far from budget and this sounds good enough to me :)

alpinefroggy I don't know whether or not your comment was a compliment but thanks for commenting! Haha

It is and it isn't, Your deck is fine for your meta, which is important. But you have essentially made a worse deck from what jund should look like in most metas.

I'd ditch the Bituminous Blast and Searing Spear, those cards just don't look like they'll pull their weight here.

Broodmate Dragon is a solid finisher and fits with the colours. Ramping to it is possible with a few Deathrite Shaman and fetch lands like Verdant Catacombs if they're within your budget.

Bloodhall Ooze and Putrid Leech are both significant beaters in this deck, the former especially so with the latter or a set of deathrite shamans. I'd probably increase your creature count significantly as it's your win condition and you'll want to be keeping up the pressure.

Treetop Village is yet another cheap and efficient creature that fits into this list :P

Looks like a solid deck so far, keep it up!

I'd also mainboard the Abrupt Decay, they're just too handy too often.

c16sh1 Putrid Leech is good but in this deck, I'm looking for things that could be used as finishers. I know that Putrid Leech has a lot of potential but for me, I just see it as a little chump blocker.

March 4, 2013 1:33 p.m.

Putrid Leech is a 4/4 for 2. It's a consistent beater at a good price. Can't go wrong.

hazyhomunculus c16sh1 You know what, after some playtesting, I take that back. Putrid Leech is pretty good. What do you guys think I should take out for it? I was thinking about swapping out Searing Spear.

March 4, 2013 1:50 p.m.

Sounds like a good start to me. Try the Bituminous Blast out for Bloodhall Ooze to complete your aggro mana curve.

hazyhomunculus I really want to keep the Bituminous Blast because of its cascade effect. Maybe -1 Terminate -1 Blightning and -1 Forest for 3 Bloodhall Ooze?

OK my suggestions are going to be very expensive, but if you can afford them then you definitely should make the changes.

This is aggro, so Farseek is not necessary. Sprouting Thrinax doesn't seem worth it as well. This gives you 7 card slots, so I would add 4 Deathrite Shaman, 1 Abrupt Decay, and 2 Dark Confidant.

Next you really need to change your mana base because modern is all about fetchlands. (Plus fetchlands are even more necessary once you add Deathrite Shaman) So take out 3 Dragonskull Summit and 3 Rootbound Crag for 4 Verdant Catacombs and 1 Marsh Flats and 1 Misty Rainforest. Then take out 1 forest and 1 mountain for 2 Stomping Ground
