Looks fun, +1. Inspiration for another project was not what I needed but here we are.

Suggestions: You don't have to be a counter deck to run Cathars' Crusade , make your tokens exponentially bigger to essentially Overrun your opponents (Winmore? Maybe). Cloudshift could be a protection option (kind of like a counterspell for single target removal. And Whispersilk Cloak is a 3rd Boots w/o the haste, but added evasion. Hope it helps.

Sincerely

Still trying to get my wife to play since 2013.

Sorry I took so long to reply. It’s been a busy week.

Cathars' Crusade is one I always like. I just haven’t decided if it’s win-more or not, but it feels like it is at the moment. I’ll have to test it out.

I’m not completely sold on Cloudshift though it’s an interesting idea to use it to counter a removal spell. If I had protection already on Mirri it would feel a bit dead in my hand. Maybe if I had more ETB effects I would run it.

Whispersilk Cloak is another good idea and a way for Mirri to start chipping away with commander damage. I just don’t like that it takes 5 mana to start getting use out of it. It’s definitely considered, though.

Thanks for taking the time to look at the deck. Glad it inspired you to start something new! Lol Good luck in getting your wife to play!

I have a similar deck that plays well, here: Mirri, Weatherlight Duelist.

Having options for tapping Mirri without attacking is helpful. Cryptolith Rite is good, but I'd also add Glare of Subdual . Both have done a lot of work in my deck. Maze of Ith and/or Kor Haven will help complete the pillow fort.

Since she has first strike, Basilisk Collar , Godsend , or Bow of Nylea will eliminate most worries about her dying in combat.

Yeah that thought crossed my mind when I was trying to do too many things with Mirri before and scrapped it for this version. Glare of Subdual used to be on that list, and I ended up cutting most of the cards that tap opponents' creatures because they weren't really worth it. However Glare would still be useful in keeping Mirri tapped without need of the combat step and would allow me to get rid of any unfavorable blockers beforehand. I'll probably make room for it.

I want a Maze of Ith , but I have another deck it will go toward before this one, but it would definitely be useful here. Kor Haven might have to do in the meantime.

I used to have Basilisk Collar and Godsend in my old list as well. Somehow they didn't make it to this version. I wish Godsend didn't require 6 mana to get it on her, but with how much I can ramp I think it'll be all right. I don't know why I never included Bow of Nylea since it really should be in the deck.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll take a look at your list as well.

For more hexproof, what about an Archetype of Endurance maybe?

I love the concept, well done. Odric, Master Tactician could be good especially if you're going to add Bow of Nylea , essentially you get to choose which creature of your opponents dies each combat. He also provides a nice backup in case mirri gets locked out of the game.

Archetype of Endurance just seems too expensive to me. I can already spend half the mana for hexproof just by playing Shalai, Voice of Plenty . The fact that it makes my opponents lose hexproof is nice but situational.

Thanks! Odric, Master Tactician is already on the list and was the first thing I included in the deck when I decided I wanted to play Mirri with combat tricks. Do you know of any other cards that are similar to him? I really want to be able to take Mirri's control of combat that one step further like Odric does.

Abzkaban, I understand. The only reason I have one/ever considering using it is because I got it in a random box of cards, so I got lucky. The thing I hate about shalai is that she is then target-able, but oh well. Nice job :)

That's the only thing keeping her from being OP. However if I give her Lightning Greaves or Swiftfoot Boots then I'm set on that front.

Thanks!

I do not know of anything else that does this type of effect. I'll do some research though and get back to you if I find anything.

Thanks. Deftblade Elite and Krosan Vorine at least allow me to force a block which thanks to Mirri is the only one they get. I’m looking for anything along those lines.

I totally forgot about provoke. Good catch!!

What about Lure effects?

April 5, 2019 10:22 p.m.

Abzkaban says... #15

Yeah and I love Deftblade Elite since I can prevent the damage if none of my options are favorable. I just wish any of the other green or white provoke creatures were worth the cost. Swooping Talon I might consider since the flying gets damage in regardless of Mirri and can make a non-flyer block for a mana. But the casting cost is just so high for that effect.

I forgot about Lure effects! That might be worth looking into.

Matsu-Tribe Decoy is perfect! The tap effect is a nice touch. At 4 mana, I'm not sure if there will be room in the deck for the elephants.

Privileged Position is the perfect type of card, but the price is a little out of reach for this deck at the moment.

Abzkaban says... #19

Although the cost for the elephants' lure effects is cheaper. That might be worth it. Finding things to cut is going to be a nightmare. Lol

+1 Great Deck!

I love the deck and have most of the pieces already, so I was thinking of building it. One question I already have Craterhoof Behemoth , Triumph of the Hordes , Anointed Procession , and Parallel Lives , what should I replace them with in the deck?

Muldrotha7912

Thanks! Glad you like it!

You could possibly replace Overrun or Overwhelming Stampede with Craterhoof and Triumph since they’re strictly better unless you just want redundancy in your trampling. Precinct Captain and Geist-Honored Monk aren’t our best token producers and could probably be swapped out for the doublers.

I’m in the middle of cutting some things for cards in the Maybeboard. I’ve already cut Lifecrafter's Bestiary and Oketra's Monument since this deck doesn’t rely on playing tons of creature cards. There’s only about 20 creatures which is pretty low for a green deck. In that light you might also cut Prowling Serpopard depending on how much counter magic you run into.

Ajani, Caller of the Pride is the weakest planeswalker and is really only good to burst into cat tokens 4 turns after you play him. You might not miss him if you’re running Craterhoof, and White Sun's Zenith takes care of creating lots of cats.

Let me know how it plays once you build it!

April 6, 2019 5:49 p.m.

Muldrotha7912 says... #22

I think in this deck Garruk Wildspeaker is a better planeswalker than Ajani, Caller of the Pride because all 3 of his abilities are relevant, where as Ajani, Caller of the Pride only relevant ability is his ult and it is always risky to play planeswalkers for their ult, especially when it takes 4 turns for them to ult.

April 6, 2019 8:51 p.m.

Muldrotha7912 says... #23

And with Garruk Wildspeaker you can overrun the turn after you play him, so he is a wincon by himself. He has worked well for me in past token decks I've made.

Abzkaban says... #24

Muldrotha7912

You’re right, and the price isn’t much more than Ajani, too. It would definitely be worth the switch. The main reason Ajani is in here is because my wife likes cats. I’ll probably end up replacing him, though. Garruk is just too good.

This deck is quite awesome, but have you considered putting Mirari's Wake into it? That card is so useful that I feel that any EDH deck that contains green and white should have it.

Also, Ajani Steadfast , Ajani Unyielding , and Archangel of Thune would provide additional methods for making your creature tokens more powerful.
