Looking for a new deck. This is rather inspiring, thanks +1
Quick question: how is this deck faring vs Jund and its Kolaghan's Commands?

Well, I haven't been playing this a lot since DTK's arrival. I won't say it's not that much of an issue, but often it is played far before I try to put a blade on the table (which saves me from the "destroy target artifact" part). Against Grixis, since they've got Snapcaster Mages and the new Jace, it's a real pain in the ass! x)
I'm going to update it to the new state of modern in the upcomming days, tho. :)

Any updates to this post BFZ? Would like to see how it's playing out. I love Monastery Mentor.

Unfortunately, the mentor despite his power level being over 9000 is a creature that dies to every single modern removal... So I think I might end up removing him, while playing 4x Mirran Crusader or Phyrexian Crusader, depending on the match-up. The phyrexian one is a very interesting dude, but I think I'll need to rework entirely the deck if I want to play it as a main threat. Its main argument is that it is resilient to the best removals avaible in modern (bolt, path, Kommand, terminate...), while having the deadly combo infect/first strike. Doing so would free the slots occupied by Intangible Virtue and Mentor (I will miss this lightning rod tho), lower Lingering Souls by one and be more threatening to my opponent. However, it alone can't kill a 4/5 Tarmogoyf or a 5/5 Scooze which makes the match-up against midrange a little bit more difficult (as if Abrupt Decay and Kommand were not ruining my swords). Well, this deck still has serious trouble against B/G/x midrange decks, but by doing this "shift" to infect it will be possible to drop the manlands that are definitively too slow for the current meta.
On the other hand, I can also try to make it somehow a token/midrange deck: it would allow me to continue to play the mentor for a bit, with Delvers, snapcasters and my favorite card from BfZ which is Drana, Liberator of Malakir. However, it would be slower and far weaker to spot removals because of the lack of protection.
What do you think of this? Snapcasters and Crusaders or Mentors and Liberators?

I'd add Jace, Vryns Prodigy and test it. I'd say Mentor eating removal is perfect because it's a threat that has to be answered. I'm not sure how well Drana would play but you could try it.

Any thoughts on this after OTG and the new modern bans?

Manapanda Check out the deck's description, you'll be served! ;)

So returning Sword of the Meek off Monastery Mentor triggers is gross. I would test it out.

Returning SoM does not trigger the Mentor, as you do not cast it. You should take a look at the deck I linked in the description for further details about this "new" archetype. ;)

elpokitolama I know that. I should have clarified. When you cast a noncreature spell, mentor triggers, making a 1/1 Monk which triggers SotM to ETB from the graveyard.

- 5 shocks is a lot, and so is 9 fetches. I would consider swapping out a number of them for the horizon canopy lands of esper colors.
- Modern has slowed down a bit so i might consider getting harder counters like negate over remand and mana leak.

@abbatromebone I won't lie, the deck is still fairly close in structure as it used to be 4 years ago. The manabase is almost the exact same and will 100% change in that direction. Veto, spell pierce are the next in line with Archmage's Charm being considered (although very taxing on the manabase, will probably end up as Esper Charm 2-3).
Thanks a lot! :)

- more esper charms is great
- As someone who looks closely at the UWx community I would advise against Archmage's charm.
