BRION'S SWOL ARMY

Brion Stoutarm has an Army of Giants and Warriors. They pump serious iron in the form of Equipment and will take what is yours while beating you into a pulp. They shrug off board wipes and punch other aggro decks in the face.

What are YOU gonna do about it? Nothing. That's what I thought.

I dunno, bro. You might have to hit the weights before you start reading this primer.

Boros needs all the help it can get in EDH, but this deck can get all kinds of gains. Make sure you get a spot before starting to lift. Weathered Wayfarer can get you to Emeria, The Sky Ruin. Expedition Map can get you there too. Thaumatic Compass and Endless Horizons bulk up on the lands. You don't want to be missing any land drops here. Solemn Simulacrum and Burnished Hart keep the tempo going too, and they come back thanks to Emeria and our mean lady Emeria Shepherd. (More on Big E in a bit.)

HERE IT IS.

Beefy, burly, bulky Giants and strong, swole, strapping Warriors. We roll hard here, and our big bros Magma Giant, Hammerfist Giant and Bloodfire Colossus keep the board clear of any scrubs who can't carry their weight. If our big brutes can't get through by themselves, we have our dude Archetype of Aggression and boss man Sunrise Sovereign to make sure those chumps can't stop the beating. Or they can take matters into their own hands with Tenza, Godo's Maul and O-Naginata.

If we still can't get our bruisers through, Brion Stoutarm and Bloodshot Cyclops have the guns to rocket them right into our opponents' domes. Biceps like cannons, shoulders like boulders. Brion can bench an Autachton Worm. Get on his level, bro. Oathsworn Giant and Herald of Dromoka even let Brion knock heads and still have time to go shot-put on some poor fool.

Need even more pain to be brought? Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer amps it up to 11, and with all the iron the deck is already pumping, he'll have no trouble getting to Metalcraft. Ogre Battledriver and Lovisa Coldeyes get the pain train going early with Haste and pump our ruffians even larger.

Remember back when I said Boros needs all the help it can get? Well Heirloom Blade turns sacrificed bros into card advantage. Deathrender cheats 'em out for free, and both cards pump up our bruisers even more to boot. (Seriously though, Heirloom Blade giving 3 power for 1 mana is almost ludicrous; it's worth running for that alone.) Those two, along with Sunforger help us start making those gains.

Speaking of Sunforger, we got a way to really go to town with it, thanks to Tithe and Mistveil Plains. Make sure you count your reps when lifting with Sunforger.

In addition to the free weights, we also pump on machines. Phyrexian Processor epitomizes the fact that there aren't any gains without some pain. Brion will get you back all the blood and sweat you put into it. Just be sure to wipe the bench down when you're done.

Emeria, The Sky Ruin is an absurdly powerful land that we will attempt to abuse as hard as possible. That's why we're running so many Plains. Between recurring ETB effects (Stoneforge Mystic, Quarry Colossus, Thundercloud Shaman, etc.) and just bringing back our big'uns, the card just straight up gives us value without needing to spend mana or additional cards.

Emeria Shepherd pulls her weight too. She loops with Burnished Hart and Thornbite Staff to net a Zombify at instant speed for 3 mana. Even without those two cards, we're running more than enough Plains to make those Landfall triggers count. She can rebuild your board state after a board wipe all by herself.

"Leg Day" means all the bad matchups this deck has, and hoo boy, it's got a few.

For starters, it's Boros. Boros has skinny little chicken legs. We're trying to compensate for Boros's skinny little chicken legs. Sometimes we can get away with wearing sweatpants. Other times we stall out and have no way of getting card advantage. Our skinny little chicken legs also don't have many ways of stopping combos if Sunforger isn't out and already equipped.

Our army might be Swole AF, but they're not too smart. They're your high school football team jocks who thought that Tutors were for nerds. Well, blue, black and green are making $100k+ at their tech jobs thanks to all of those tutors. We do have one tutor - he probably spent more time playing D&D than making gains at the gym (Enlightened is technically -1 to card advantage), but it's a tutor. We pass those classes. No Academic Probation for our magnificent meatheads. (And we can fetch it off Sunforger.)

Our army doesn't like it when they can't pump weights. Atrophy and all that. Not cool. We don't like Vandalblast. Mass artifact destruction hampers our gains. And we don't like mass land destruction either. Our big bruisers need their space.

Oh, and it's still Boros.
