I'll be reviewing most part of your deck, but i'll just start by posting this before i forget. Possibility Storm is a must in that deck. It makes all your opponent's non-creature spell go -12 life and most won't give the result they wanted unless they have alot of similar spells.

I don't think Borborygmos Enraged is something that can just be splashed into a deck. He really wants to be the general of a deck built around him.

I'm not particularly fond of mana dorks in this format unless they have some added utility. Like Birds of Paradise being able to produce any color and being a flyer, Zhur-Taa Druid pinging opponents every time he taps for mana, or Bloom Tender being able to produce more than one mana per activation. Heart Warden is a favorite of mine. Otherwise, I much prefer creatures that actually fetch lands from your deck: Sakura-Tribe Elder , Wood Elves , Yavimaya Dryad , Solemn Simulacrum , Yavimaya Granger , Dawntreader Elk , Diligent Farmhand , and Ondu Giant to name a few.

If you're going to run a Snow-Covered land base, Scrying Sheets and Mouth of Ronom aren't back utility land techs.

Not a fan of the "level up" creatures since you can only do it at sorcery speed. What usually happens is you putting a lot of mana into them but then having an opponent kill it in response to the last activation.

Gratuitous Violence , Nullstone Gargoyle , Grafted Exoskeleton , and Heartwood Storyteller have fantastic synergy with Ruric.

Entwined Tooth and Nail should win you the game on the spot, but I don't really see any game-winning pairs you can fetch up with it. Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + Zealous Conscripts and Avenger of Zendikar + Sylvan Primordial /Craterhoof Behemoth immediately come to mind.

You can add Worldly Tutor , Fauna Shaman , Survival of the Fittest , Birthing Pod , Primal Command to give you more tutors. Skullclamp + Nim Deathmantle + sac outlet like Thermopod , Greater Gargadon , Ashnod's Altar , or Phyrexian Altar is a pretty decent draw engine.

You can also combo sac outlets with Vicious Shadows and Stalking Vengeance to burn players outside of combat.

Hellkite Charger or Aggravated Assault combined with Bear Umbra , Sword of Feast and Famine , or Nature's Will gives you infinite combat phases.

More lifelink wouldn't be a bad idea given the amount of noncreature spells you're running. Basilisk Collar , Pelakka Wurm , Wurmcoil Engine are the only two you're missing I believe. There's also Batterskull , but I'm not particularly fond of it. Its main selling point is dodging removal, but recasting it every time makes Ruric hit you.

I see you running Price of Glory . You can go for a land punishment subtheme by adding Burning Earth , Ruination , War's Toll , and Price of Progress or Magus of the Moon and Blood Moon and adjusting your land base accordingly.

Possibility Storm has turned out to be a surprisingly good form of disruption in my own Ruric build. Makes Ruric even harder to deal with and gives you the option of trying to flip dead cards in your hand into other things.

Heartless Hidetsugu speeds up everyone's clock and can be used to put opponents into lethal Ruric range. Activating his ability with Grafted Exoskeleton equipped or Gratuitous Violence forces a draw. But Platinum Emperion , Platinum Angel , and Elderscale Wurm can help keep you alive when you do this.

Since you play Domri Rade and Garruk, Caller of Beasts and your commander being what he is, i would cut most non creature spells and rely on ETB effect for the tool box part... By the way, cut Garruk Wildspeaker , you don't need his abilities.

Looking at your landbase, you have alot of come into play tapped land, few basic lands. You dont run enough basic to make Boundless Realms effective. Now i realy like this spell in 2 color deck because it thins your library alot. You can take out some of those less usefull lands to add basics, or take out Boundless Realms

Lots of good insight in Loozar402's post. Just don't forget that your commander will also punish you for each non creature spell you play. I also like Primal Surge in this deck, it will be a win condition if you lower the count of non-creature spells.

cyberlocc: Uhhh...10 card optional sideboard rule says hi?

I'm not actually using the sideboard, that's just a card I pulled out for the Elvish Mystic. Anyways, I'm reading the comments right now.

A few of the nonbasic lands in my deck are proxied, so I think I might be able to get rid of some taplands for some basics.

Also, I'm not entirely sure what I should take out of my deck first.

Also, regarding the comment with the slivers, wouldn't they just have two copies of the "T: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool" each? That doesn't sound like it would tap for two mana.

huh I didn't know that Loozar402 that must be new with the whole commander thing in that case i think the optional means its a choice of the play area if you look in the rules especially as all sideboards are optional and in my local shop EDH tourneys you make changes prior to the first game and then your stuck for the rest of the tourney and in our league your stuck for the rest of the 4 months.

You are absolutely right on the sliver comment, they both would have 2x tap: produce a mana of any color. They each can only produce 1 mana....

Needs more lands. I play tested and got mana screwed

Lurking Predators is amazing for a creature heavy deck. I like your inclusion of Basilisk Collar, it's so great on Ruric-Thar, gaining life everywhere! I do think that you should try to become more creature focused though, only having cards that really help get creatures either into your hand or onto the battlefield.

I just began building and running a Ruric Thar EDH myself and agree that the deck should be creature-heavy which I'm also trying to shift to. Some other great creatures could be:Avenger of Zendikar

Hellkite Charger for extra combats

Nullstone Gargoyle for the "creatures only" theme

I've also found Thicket Elemental to be a pretty fun card for this deck. It's unpredictable but I enjoyed getting a Woodfall Primus for only 2 mana. You have many better staples than I do at the moment, but I'd love some feedback on Unbowed and Angry.

+1 from me.

My main problem is that I'm not sure what I should take out to make room for new cards. I have 31 noncreature spells, and I really want to thin down that number.

Also, I won a game with a 14/14 Savageborn Hydra that I pumped by 10/0 with a Kessig Wolf Run and Gratuitous Violence. Lol.

September 18, 2013 10:49 p.m.

That's pretty badass haha. I think you can do without Quicksilver Amulet , using green ramp you should be able to get out most creatures you want to cast fairly easily. Leyline of Lifeforce probably also isn't necessary unless you're frequently playing people running Azami or something.

Why not just title it "Broborygmos"?

A valid point! I didn't think that it'd be available (even though it is a pun on the actual name) so I didn't think to give it a try.
