I've been playing a similar deck at my LGS and I can say it's both unexpected and a lot of fun. I focused more on going tall vs going wide, and nobody expects to lose 22 points coming at them out of nowhere. The only deck I've faced so far that can really deal with it was an Esper control deck.

For reference, here's a link to my version http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/07-10-14-fUl-abzan-counters/

I hope it helps further inspire you!

This deck is a poster child for board wipes. A 118 up vote poster child wow!

So i take it you do not like it. Gotchya. It can kill by turn five. And most board wipes - drown in sorrow take 5 mana anyway. Drown in sorrow usually never gets to touch the board when you are giving the said creature pro black.

1:Drown in Sorrow cost's 3 and doesn't target 2:people are ramping into mass removal at 5 mana, so as early as turn 3 and don't forget Anger of the Gods .

anger of the gods can be avoided with Pro.I am usually able to stand tall against drown but aetherspouts, the vault and end hostilities do give me some problems. So i try not to let it all hang out. In the shop i play at G/R monsters and Jeskai ascendancy give me the most trouble. I tend to run over control decks before the wipes become troublesome, but dealing with a huge craters claws to the dome from devotion is nothing to joke about. And that combo deck is the real deal often going off on the turn before i get the kill. I understand why you dont think it should have the vote count it does. Its cool.. i dont mind too much.

Thanks for your comment on Soldier pants!

I love this build! You've got +1/+1 coming outta everywhere, hehehe. I really like Feat of Resistance as I hadn't realized its strength before. Good job!

I am currently working with a deck very similar to this and posted it just this morning. I fought through the play testing with Abzan colors, but found the black to be too much.
I tried working through Heroic + Scales and Bolster, but seemed to find better synergy without Heroic. Here is a a link if your interested in looking at what I have -- You're absolutely right about these decks being fun to play. With the turn 3/4 enablers (flying, life link or trample) as well as the beloved World-Eater -- it forces the opponents to trash the board or to our favor -- just eliminate 1 threat -- leaving Turn 5 to bigger and better. Take a look at Elite Scaleguard for opening up the flood gates!

I am surprised at the amount of upvotes you have earned considering the lack of consistency in this deck. One of your biggest combo's comes from Reap What Is Sown and you only run 1 of them. +1 for the budget but this deck needs some major tuning. I would think about taking out 1x Ajani Steadfast and the Raise the Alarm for at least 1 more (perhaps 2) Reap What Is Sown and another Lagonna-Band Trailblazer.Cards to think about would be Chronicler of Heroes for the card draw plus a a 3/3 for 3 mana is pretty solid, or even High Sentinels of Arashin. You should definitely make space for 3x Mistcutter Hydra in the sideboard for those blue matchups.
