Holy Jesus, OpenFire, are you going down the line of new decks in this hub just to tell people it's wrong? Obviously it isn't your description of cruel control but how can it be when it is also standard.....you should take a break dude and just make your own deck...

OpenFire, I was always under the impression that Cruel Control was any deck that was based around killing things and ripping opponents' hands apart. While this doesn't necessarily embrace lots of the latter, it does plenty of the former. That said, I searched under the Cruel Control category on the site and there are clearly many, many decks under that heading that aren't Cruel Ultimatum decks, did you post that on all of theirs too, or am I just lucky?

BFG, I just saw similar on another decklist, I guess s/he is in a troll'y mood tonight.

thewyzman You are mistaken, much like many of the other people in this hub. It makes it easier for me to find actual Cruel Control decks when ones like this being out of the hub. One of my pet peeves on the site is mislabeled deck archetypes. How is Jorubai Murk Lurker working out for you in the sideboard? Stain the Mind seems like it should be useful if you can catch a Jeskai Ascendancy player unprepared. Also remember Stain lets you see their hand.

thewyzman, he/she is just a troll who can't make their own "cruel control" deck. Oh well nice work in progress here though, I like it!

Hey thewyzman, look, now he is all butt hurt. Too bad there isn't a dislike button for decks. :P He went and copied a modern "cruel control" deck and put his own description in.

EssTea, Ne0nRain, just shouting Hey from my decklist since y'all running the same show of your own. I typically update my list with FNM results, which clearly indicate my struggle with aggro decks, making me really consider boarding in 3-4 Drowns (to keep weenie path clear for a late game PLA) and subbing my PLA out for a pair of Sphinxes (quicker and tougher to remove), which aren't a particularly popular choice, but clearly I'm not adapting to my meta going from 3-1 to 2-2 to 0-3.
Somehow the more I learn and practice the worse I'm getting... or the tougher my meta is getting. I'm getting really discouraged about the strength of this deck.

I recently went 0-3 at FNM too. I was against Mardu Midrange, R/G Monsters/Devotion to Bees, and Temur Aggro. It's not a particularly reliable deck, but we'll see how well it does after Fate Reforged's release.

I'm straight up distraught at this deck as I just can't seem to get the job done, and there are guys at my shop with pro-level understanding of the game mechanics (I'm just learning about how to play the stack myself), and they pretty much bait and bully the lower guys, especially control decks, and won't hesitate to make you pick up all your lands and PLA until you're flat out late in the game... so even if I made Top 8 I'd probably run into trouble in the Top 4 (my player meta sucks for intermediates).
I used to play Abzan reanimator during Theros block, but when it gained popularity in KTK I stopped playing it because I hate playing the "popular" decks and wanted to learn control. I'm considering going back...
It's peculiar that I essentially went 3-1 the first time ever playing this, and after a month of practice I wind up finishing an FNM 0-3.

I kinda wanna really throw things for a spin and run 4x Drown, 2x Blight, 2x Vault, 4x Sphinx, and 0x Ashioks in the main... just because no one does that.
OpenFire says... #1
This deck isn't Cruel Control, no matter how cruel it is or how not fun it is to play against. Cruel Control is Modern-legal UBR control that has a finisher of Cruel Ultimatum.
