OK, so my thoughts with this deck are... interesting. I was looking for a pseudo control deck that still played a little aggro at times. Personally I think the synergy between Purphoros and Elspeth is insane. You basically turn Elspeth into a 6 mana 3 dudes + six damage + planeswalker. She does everything then. Because I am choosing red instead of blue I lose out on sphinx's rev and as such I needed something solid that could get me some life gain and I felt that Obzedat does this very nicely as well as blind obedience. Also add in Whipe and your doing some fairly nuts combo's (see Obzedat).

Reckoner makes your opponents not want to attack while scriviner and read the bones do well to refuel after a board wipe late game. Heliod is in here to give the deck some rigidity and stop it from being blown out by control. You wrath I remake dudes with mana. Spear is just great synergy again with Elspeth as well as Heliod and acts as removal.

Magma jet and Chain give the deck some removal although that is one thing I feel I may be lacking here. Ashen Rider does the same late game as well as being able to remove God's. He, even tho he is a one of, is very important. Rakdos's Return is quiet frankly a devastating card.

Still working on sideboard options but mizzium, Anger, and Thoughtseize are certainly a great start.
