What started out as a mono B aggro deck got a taste of U from two Mana Leaks for tempo, 2
Stitched Drake
s for getting extra value from dead soldiers, and 4 Diregraf Captains to have a total of 8 lords and getting some extra reach.
Now then, who's in this deck?
.::Turn 1::.
Gravecrawler/
Diregraf Ghoul
: These are the same card on turn 1, but they both have merits the other does not. For example GC has the ability to never actually die, provided I can keep another zombie on the field to pick him up. But DG passes the all important Gut Shot/
Geistflame
test.
.::Turn 3::.
Cemetery Reaper/ Diregraf Captain: Both are lords, both can come down turn three, but CR can make 2/2's (that look like 3/3's) and DC can provide extra reach and to an extent deter sweepers. I often opt to let the lords chill in my hand until I'm ready to lay them down for the final push into the red-zone.
Geralf's Messenger: The most aggressive turn 3 play available, unless exiled he guarantees a minimum of 4 damage for BBB, not bad. Undying is simply icing on the cake.
Phyrexian Crusader: This quartet provides an alternate, faster wincon and benefit from the lords. Also laughs at Timely Reinforcements all the way to the bank. I choose to run them but you don't have to.
Stitched Drake
: As I said before this guy is there to help with the final push home. He takes a dead guy (other than Gravecrawler, mind you) and turns them into a 3/4 flyer that eats Spirit tokens for breakfast or slaps your opponent right over their ground forces. Megusta.
.::Turn 4::.
Phyrexian Obliterator: Who gives a crap if he's not a zombie he's the absolute nuts! I don't really need to explain why this guy is good right? Especially since Dismember is on a small hiatus it would seem.
.::Other::.
Mana Leak: I just want Remand, but this is what we have, so this is what we use. Stops annoying sweepers from destroying your well built forces.
Tragic Slip: Lots of 1 toughness dorks running around in standard, also Morbid kills any creature in standard.
Black Sun's Zenith: Sweepers are needed. Also for BB1 we can reset our Messengers back to a non-Undying state. Flexibility, folks.
