DECK CONCEPT: The deck is meant to stall and it is quite effective at doing so. It is stalling to get Army of the Damned. However, Army of the Damned isn't enough to win alone. So my stall tactics have to set my 13 zombie tokens up for success. That is where the mass amounts of creature destruction kicks in. You won't have anything to block with, if you do, it will die.
TLDR- Stall with creature destruction so that I can raid w/ Army of the Damned
COMBO: Army of the Damned, the dark ritual comes in quite handy. Dark Ritual and Diabolic Tutor for support in getting Army of the Damned out in a timely manner.
STALL TACTICS: Royal Assassin Ruthless Ripper and Vampire Nighthawk set up a solid defense. If you think numbers are on your side and attack, I will tap Royal Assassin then play Malicious Affliction killing three targeted things with 2 mana. If Reaper from the Abyss is out, I will kill a 4th creature. Mortuary Mire will bring back a deathtouch creature at the very least, proving to be an effective deterrent.
If I can't draw for the life of me, I will stall even further with Lethal Vapors. While this is a primary mechanic that is NOT beneath me, I prefer to save it after I have killed your defenses and played Army of the Damned. By removing it with little to know creatures, you have destined yourself to take a direct hit from the 13 zombies, only so that you can play creatures. That yes, I will too, destroy.
SIDE BOARD:
Duress - If I am playing against a spell heavy deck and creature destruction is a waste.
dark betrayal- If I am playing against black decks.
maddening imp- If I am playing multiplayer, to allow for renewable, targeted destruction, via Royal Assassin without using a destruction spell.
