Ayli, Frooty Loops

This deck is built around Sun Titan and other frooty loops in order to abuse ETBs, resource denial, attrition, and exile spot removal through Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim 's secondary ability. My ultimate goal is to use Ayli’s second ability to pick apart everyone else’s board states and eventually dominate through card/field advantage and resource removal.

Why Ayli,Eternal Pilgrim?

  1. My first exposure to Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim was in a two-headed giant event with my playgroup. She was the MVP of my deck in limited and allowed me to both protect my pieces and remove their pieces. On top of all of this she has deathtouch as a 2 drop. After this event I knew I wanted to brew her as a commander. The benefits to having her as a commander is that she is a 2 drop, meaning I can get her out turn 2 before almost anyone else will have a creature out. She also prevents me from taking some damage early game since she has deathtouch and easy to recast.
  2. The other benefits from having Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim as a commander is all of her abilities. Her first ability not only allows me to gain massive amounts of life but protects all of my pieces from exile removal. Her second ability allows me to remove problems late game and keeps the board in check. Both of these allow me to abuse ETBs and death triggers as well.
  3. The built in sac outlet allows me to abuse the stack in order to perma exile stuff using Fiend Hunter and Angel of Serenity .

The Breakdown

Hand and Mana Fixing

Resource Denial/Control

  • Grand Abolisher : Prevents control decks from interfering on my turn and 1v1 it forces people to play on their turn.

  • Kambal, Consul of Allocation : A meta choice that punishes people for playing any noncreatures which are usually a little more challenging to answer.

  • Remorseful Cleric : Some slight graveyard hate that people cannot steal as easily as Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet so less likely to hurt me as well. Usually hold onto it until it is needed to play and sacrifice immediately.

  • Teysa, Orzhov Scion : Another way to exile peoples creatures while also creating some flying tokens off of some of my other bodies. Goes infinite with Reveillark and Karmic Guide to remove all creatures or get an infinite amount of ETB or death drain using either Corpse Knight , Blood Artist , or Auriok Champion . Auriok Champion combos with Vizkopa Guildmage to drain opponents while giving me infinite life.

  • Necrotic Sliver : A recursive body that can remove any permanent, in a big loop I can start removing lands in order to slow opponents down.

  • Fiend Hunter : Along with a sac outlet allows me to permanently exile creatures opponents control. Also allows me to pocket an ETB from one of my creatures if needed. Chose over some other ones because of the phrasing, the fact that it is recurable by Sun Titan and Reveillark .

  • Angel of Serenity : Along with a sac outlet, allows me to permanently exile 3 creatures opponents control or get 3 creatures from my graveyard back. Also gives me slight graveyard hate against others if sacrificed immediately.

  • Mindslicer : Helps protect a good board by removing their hands and is recursive if I need to remove another hand. Really good to play on a durdle board since I can get almost anything back from my graveyard.

  • Liliana, Heretical Healer  : Flips into a planeswalker that allows me to slowly pick apart peoples hands, reuse some key pieces to deny even more resources. If she ever gets to ult, it is completely backbreaking with any other creature.

  • Massacre Girl : A wipe on a body that can easily be manipulated with sacrifice effects.

  • Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite : A nice curve topper that makes each of my other bodies a bit bigger and usually kills or significantly weakens opponents boards.

  • Kokusho, the Evening Star : A big body that swings/blocks in the air, sacrifices for a lot of life and can be looped to drain opponents significantly, if not completely.

  • Sheoldred, Whispering One : Good static recursion while we also denying opponents creatures, will likely get removed immediately but will require a lot of removal to fully remove.

Spot Removal

Board wipes

  • Austere Command : Can be used to wipe the board of big drops but keep my board of little drops. Also mass enchant and artifact removal if needed.

  • Toxic Deluge : Wipes the board of everything, including indestructible creatures. Paying the life usually doesn't hurt since Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim gives me a large buffer.

Recursion

  • Living Death : A good board wipe/recursion spell since I am usually exiling all of their creatures and can sac my board before hand to recur everything, giving my more ETBs which will usually remove the little stuff they get back.

  • Corpse Dance : Allows me to continuously recur creatures to get multiple ETBs a turn, this helps a lot since I can control which creature is on top of my graveyard with Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim most of the time.

  • Wake the Dead : Allows me to get back creatures to rebuild my board permanently through recursion dorks during their combat phase or randomly block stuff they thought would be unblockable.

  • All of these are also recurrable by Xiahou Dun, the One-Eyed

Planeswalkers

  • Elspeth, Sun's Champion : Included mostly for her plus and neg. Gives me bodies to use as sac fodder and allows me to partially wipe the board while keeping most of my important pieces and getting rid of big creatures.
  • Kaya, Ghost Assassin : Allows me to pocket ETBs and prevent my big ETB creatures from removal outside of my turn. My favorite creatures to put under Kaya, Ghost Assasin are Grave Titan and Sun Titan , however Angel of Serenity is also a good target to get cards back and then use her to exile things when she re-enters the battlefield.

Sac Outlets

Mazes

Thespian's Stage

  • Can copy Maze of Ith 's or other players good lands to benefit me as well.

Frooty Loops and Silly locks

Immortal Loops

Living Death

Infinite Loops

Sun Titan Lock

The ultimate control lock in this deck includes Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim , Sun Titan , Gift of Immortality , Flickerwisp , and Ensnaring Bridge in order to prevent people from swinging on me while I slowly gain more and more life and eventually use Sun Titan as sac fodder to exile everything on their board.

Necromancy

Permanent exile

  • Fiend Hunter + A sac outlet: permanently exile's a single creature if you sacrifice it in response to it exiling the creature on the stack.

  • Angel of Serenity + a sac outlet: permanently exile up to 3 creatures on the battlefield or in opponents graveyards if you sacrifice it in response to it exiling on the stack.

Suggestions

Updates Add

Removed Doomed Artisan for Charming Prince since Charming Prince is very much at home in a Sun Titan deck and Doomed Artisan was the weakest of the cards in the deck. Nothing wrong with Doomed Artisan just didn't have anything else to drop.

Also added in Castle Locthwain as a utility land since I normally have a buffer of life in this deck and draw on a land is great.
