Short Summary:

Combining Pride of the Clouds beatdown with prison-elements in an Enlightened Tutor Package.

Credit goes to madcatsowega. His great primer is the reason I started working on the deck in the first place. His list can be found here

The Gameplan

The deck aims to play Pride of the Clouds and birds. Pride is this decks Tarmagoyf. Beatdown using Pride and small fliers. Incidentally, they are primarily birds.

1. Pride of the Clouds

The buildaround card in this deck. It's basically a flying Tarmagoyf. The mana cost is a little rough, but it's well worth it.

  1. Augury Owl

Serves as fixing and helps us hit our land-drops and stax-pieces. Since our mana base is super sketchy, he should help out.

  1. Cloud of Faeries

Free Flier. We can cycle it if need be. I think it's important to get our Pride of the Clouds big and beafy.

  1. Judge's Familiar

One of the best birds ever printed. It helps us fight Sneak and Show and protects Pride of the Clouds from removal. Also, for a 1/1 flier is a fine rate when curving out

  1. Squadron Hawk

A 1/1 flier for is not the best rate, but he provides some very important card advantage for when we play Island Sanctuary

What really makes the deck tick is Island Sanctuary . Because we can chump fliers for days, it means we are only really vulnerable to Islandwalk. Or Emrakul I guess, but shush about that for now.

To compensate for our lack in draws, the deck plays Sky Hussar and Squadron Hawk . If we get both of these and a sanctuary, we are golden. Now continue the beats.

We also play Back to Basics for the occasional free wins. Since we play a very budget-minded manabase this doesn't hurt us a lot.

To save money on the full playset of Back to Basics we run a playset of Enlightened Tutor to go fetch it. This also means we can run a very impactful sideboard of hatecards. And we can expect to get Island Sanctuary with greater consistency.

This deck is made to be a budget solution for me to start playing legacy. Meaning: Any non-budget suggestions will be considered but might be disregarded due to budget.
