What about Arbor Elf instead of Llanowar Elves? Then that way you can use Temple Garden instead of Razorverge Thicket just a thought.

KALE434 A good idea, It's just I very rarely need to produce multiple of black or white mana so Llanowar Elves is typically better.

All I can really think of is improvements on the land base. I'd recommend 4x Verdant Catacombs, 2x Windswept Heath, and 1x Temple Garden so you can have access to your splash colors. Otherwise the deck looks really good!

One other card, have you considered Genesis Wave? It's always fun pooping out a board but CoCo makes more sense since your creatures are a CMC of 3 or less.

Hope this helps!

Minor update to the mana-base and sideboard to try to make it a bit more competitive with the top-tier modern decks.

Forgot to link the deck on last comment but here it is: http://www.mtgtop8.com/event?e=16524&d=302178&f=MO

Well yeah i know something about modern elves, tough i myself play elves only on casual level in lack of money to go competitive.

Fracturing Gust Is another interesting sideboard option if anyone haven't mentioned it earlier.

N4kk1 Thanks for linking the deck, the differences in the sideboards from me and that deck (and the big debates I keep having with myself about my sideboard) are

1 Phyrexian Revoker vs 1 Stony Silence

1 Yixlid Jailer vs 1 Rest in Peace

2nd Reclamation Sage vs 1 Fracturing Gust

1 Kor Firewalker vs 1 Burrenton Forge-Tender

1 Melira, Sylvok Outcast and 1 Elvish Champion vs 2 Path to Exile

Maybe Coat of Arms can give your creatures a boost. And Wild Pair to give you more search option. Nice deck! +1

zoefzoef83 Please see that this is competitive Modern deck and those cards are way too slow for Modern meta

N4kk1 my first word in my comment was maybe. I have played against some modern decks whit those cards. They workt very nice. This is why whe give suggestions.

zoefzoef83 Still those cards are not good in Modern.

rothgar13 says... #11

Yeah, none of those cards are Modern playable, even for a deck as ramp-happy as Elves.

August 30, 2017 9:32 a.m.

Okay, let me premise this with, I've not played a ton of elves decks outside of casual settings, so I may not actually know what I'm doing. Having said that, perhaps you could use something like Nissa Revane for some extra life or elves, though Nissa's Chosen probably isn't the best card for modern play. Dwynen, Gilt-Leaf Daen or Immaculate Magistrate could also work.

lord_of_the_snakes Again all of those are too slow for Modern elves and you don't want to cut anything from this deck anyway.

August 30, 2017 3:57 p.m.

Woah, dude. I have no way of giving suggestions here. This looks brutal and efficient beyond what I add to. You've made a very well oiled machine. Everything looks tight and on curve. Have you considered Rhys the Redeemed or Rhys the Exiled? One is great for lifegain, the other for tokens. I'll have it said: I don't really play elves, so this really isn't my field. Maybe Elvish Promenade to get that elf-count up? Nissa Revane is also good for life, and for dropping all your guys at once. Hope this can be of some use :)

Stay frosty!

Again, those cards are too slow for modern elves.

The7thBobba Nissa Revane might actually be really interesting as a sideboard card, I'll be sure to try her out.

Looks solid, I know it's budget but things like Gilt-Leaf Palace and Cavern of Souls and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx could be good. I run a 1x of Cavern and 3x Palace and 1x Nykthos in my build.

Sounds odd but I also put 2 Chords in the side and run 2 Lead the Stampede main as game 1 I'm trying to power out elves to race and so have less need to find specific elves, and game 2 flip in the Chords along with whatever toolbox creatures suited to the opponent.

I'm not super crazy about Path, I feel like it's a dead card a lot of the time as many non-aggro creature decks need a lot more removal to play defense against and so the goal should be racing to hit the Shamans and not even worrying about combat. And against smaller creature decks you've already got Ezuri to get over them. But I could be wrong, I've never really tried non-creature removal spells in Elves.

Have you considered Hushwing Gryff or Auriok Champion? I like them too sometimes

Really nice, +1

Jimmy_Chinchila I would never cut even 1 Chord of Calling from main deck as it can easily get any creature form deck and enables easy combo kills.

Those lands are alright, but only Cavern of Souls is really must have, of course this being budget deck i don't think that ModernStormPlayer996 is going to get them.

Hushwing Gryff Is not relevant in Modern, Auriok Champion is nice against burn but i don't think its necessary.

September 1, 2017 5:13 a.m.

One Cavern of Souls is still pretty low budget for Modern with decks that run 4x Tarmogoyf and 4x Liliana of the Veil and such.

September 1, 2017 3:25 p.m.

Vixxxx says... #20

Jimmy_Chinchila How does that matter? 40$ for one card is a lot of money no matter what. Like i cannot ever afford that without trading cards for it.

September 1, 2017 3:31 p.m.

N4kk1 then you should probably stop trolling other people's deck's comments section and get a job, or just stop playing Modern.

Gryff irrelevant? It has a weak body but it's meant to gain tempo and buy a turn. Here's a few things it shuts down or weakens: Snapcaster Mage, Torrential Gearhulk, Primeval Titan, Kitchen Finks, Anafenza, the Foremost, Eternal Witness, Thought-Knot Seer. It also is good in the mirror as you can limit their Shaman of the Pack combo kill and then use Ezuri to go over their team. Maybe it's more meta specific but certainly not irrelevant...

Cavern of Souls is not budget haha, it's one of the most expensive lands in modern. It is great though if you can get two for a tribal deck.

September 1, 2017 7:31 p.m.

Omnath9 says... #23

Jimmy_Chinchila N4kk1 please keep it civil. I don't think Hushwing Gryff would be too great as my deck would probably be more vulnerable to it than my opponents with 4 Dwynen's Elite, 3 Elvish Visionary, and 4 Shaman of the Pack. Appreciate the suggestion though :)

September 1, 2017 7:51 p.m.

Sorry, the only trolls I like are Magic cards.

You think a Flickerwisp could be good to reuse Shaman of the Pack's trigger? Could end a game with enough elves out

September 1, 2017 8:07 p.m.

PickleNutz says... #25

Flickerwisp would be good, but it may detract from the overall win condition in scenarios where it is drawn in number, so a one or two of would be the best route. However, it's two hard white mana to cast and without Shaman of the Pack really doesn't do much. Sideboard it would have potential. If you are wanting to use multiple Shaman of the Pack triggers there might be better ways to go about it. Strionic Resonator being one.
