Ruric doesn't care what your'e casting! If it doesn't have the word "creature" in the middle of it, then he'll smack you right as your casting it! It is a shame how this doesn't count as commander damage since it isn't combat, or this guy would be insane!

Ruric seems like a good commander, since he is a lot like Dosan the Falling Leaf in the sense that he hates control players. Well, actually he hates anyone who doesn't like creatures.

We try to keep Ruric happy by using creatures who have instant and sorcery like abilities, such as Ingot Chewer who acts as a Crush, and Ghor-Clan Rampager who acts as a buff spell.

One problem with this is that it is hard to keep Ruric safe when he insists on attacking on every turn, and he will punch us in the face if we cast protection spells on him. Most people will kill him or get rid of him another way and take that 6 damage just so that they don't have to deal with him later. He's not the type of commander who just sits there in the corner and does nothing like Jasmine Boreal or Jedit Ojanen. Maybe that's a bit of an extreme example, but the point is that he is quite the board presence!

We only have a few non-creature spells in this deck, but I'm thinking about adding a few more, maybe Primal Surge or ramp spells like Cultivate, Utopia Sprawl or Search for Tomorrow? This is what I need help with the most.

We also try to fit Ruric's theme by utilizing guys like Heartwood Storyteller, Managorger Hydra, Dosan the Falling Leaf, Primordial Sage, Dragonlair Spider, and more to punish other players further by not playing creatures, and rewarding us for staying loyal to our two-headed murderer!

I made this deck when I was deciding which commander I should make next after my Braids, Conjurer Adept one, since a lot of the people in my group like commander now. I wanted it creature-based so I was debating through Animar, Soul of Elements, Rhys the Redeemed, Kruphix, God of Horizons, and Ruric Thar, the Unbowed I chose the last one because, although he doesn't have blue, he wrecks all those other guys.
