Faerie Impostor is sorcery speed. I want my 1-drops for "ninjutsu" and value, as opposed to the extra attack. Unsummon sounds decent in this deck, although the deck already has 8+ Bounce spells in Vapor Snag and Mistblade Shinobi.
The cards I feel like I probably should get replaced are 1xDispel and 1xTidebinder Mage. My top contender atm is Psionic Blast, but I might be missing something. Thanks for the suggestions though!

My bad, I didn't realize Quickling had flash. I'd just replace Vapor Snag with Unsummon, why pay the extra life?
I'd definitely lose Tidebinder Mage from the mainboard, he's a sideboard card at best since his effect is color-specific. I suppose Higure, the Still Wind might have too high a CMC/Ninjutsu cost to make him very effective here, but he could be worthwhile. Walker of Secret Ways could be great as a sideboard option. Also why lose Dispel?

I'm more likely to use Vapor Snag on an opponents minions and since this deck is aggressive, the Life-loss isn't a big deal, while the extra damage is quite big for this deck. Faerie Impostor might still be really good as a one of though, I'll try it out a bit.
Higure, the Still Wind is 4-mana: deal 1-2 damage and draw a ninja after combat damage. The unblockable part is decent but it seems too clunky yes (ninjutsu activates after blockers so ninja's on board can not be made unblockable that turn... strange card). Walker of Secret Ways is 2 mana to look at your opponents hand most of the time. You probably want to play stronger ninjutsu effects to use that card: Okiba-Gang Shinobi/Throat Slitter.
Tidebinder Mage to sideboard is probably good, although most creature-based decks will get hit by it (Jund,Zoo,Primeval Titan-decks etc).
Dispel seems redundant with 12 counterspells, but it will garantueed be in the sideboard.
I'm adding in some more faeries to make the deck more consistant and will playtest it a bit tomorrow to see how it functions.

I would consider losing one Latchkey Faerie and a Zephyr Sprite for a pair of Invisible Stalker. So you have an Unblockable with hexproof, that way you are almost guaranteed a Ninjitsu proc every attack phase whislt he is on the field.

I like the idea, and it would probably be fine. This deck (from my playtesting of it) does not really have a problem getting in to trigger ninjutsu, and it also has 12+ counterspells to protect the creatures (making hexproof less needed). I am however strongly considering taking out 1 Latchkey Faerie (and probably 1 Quickling) as the deck tends to draw way too many cards. The replacement would be a disruptive and/or aggressive card. (which is what the deck lacks)Vendilion Clique is way too pricey for this sadly.

Have you thought about running Mausoleum Wanderer instead of Judge's Familiar, does the same thing but also benefits from the fae tribal effects.
September 28, 2016 4:38 a.m.
Alexasmaoao says... #8
I don't see how it benefits from fae tribal. It is strictly better though (although very minor improvement) and only a dollar more expensive so I should be putting that in thank you.

Haha yeah sorry Alexasmaoao spirits, faeries, same same right? Err...

To be fair, they kinda do the same stuff anyway. Mausoleum Wanderer makes them read the card longer, so I got more time to Think. Thats how you tell the difference... Faeries don't do that!

Haha, you should come play some games with my magic squad, its impossible to get a game done inside an hour there is some much thinking going on.
Cant think of anything more aggressive to chuck instead of those cards youre looking to change out, but...
How about Isochron Scepter and a couple of Boomerang's for some added disruption? Hitting either boomerang or vapor snag with it will make your opponent regret not running artifact removal. Boomerang and isochron soft locks your opponent. Vapor Snag not so much, but against creature light decks you'd just swap em out for more boomerangs.

That's why I play aggressive here. So that I get a game 3 on mtgo lol
I feel Isochron Scepter is a bit slow and Boomerang which I run in my sideboard, can be really bad going second.
I'm gonna try out Thassa, God of the Sea for now. It can't possibly be that bad, but who knows.

NICE! I have a Fae/Ninja hybrid deck myself and its TONS of fun :D I have a Primer if your interested in more in depth pointers (wont shamelessly advertise in your comments unless you are interested :p )
My thoughts here are between Faerie Impostor/Quickling and the effects from Ninjustu and Familiar's Ruse there is PLENTY of "returning creatures to your hand effect going on... to the point where you can lose tempo i would consider cutting Faerie Impostor/Quicklingand adding maybe Aqueous Form to slap on your ninjas maybe even Distortion Strike ;) also Quietus Spike could be a nice finisher... id also drop Latchkey Faerie... just too expensive even with the prowl cost... +1 from me tho nice work.

Fun as in you get to do all the plays and they get to do none, yes the deck delivers.
I agree with you on Faerie Impostor/Quickling, and that they need to be cut down on (it is the main spot in the deck where I'm trying to figure out what to actually play). I don't want more evasion, Aqueous Form/Distortion Strike would be redundant (the Point was to Bounce the ninjas back to hand and replay them through flyers).
Quietus Spike is very expensive and halving your opponents Life doesn't seem that good when you are winning through constant poking.
Latchkey Faerie has been pretty decent from the games I've played. The extra card is really useful in some matchups and you tend to get enough mana for it in this deck. I will try a more aggressive version without them and see how it works out though ;)(replaced by Mistblade Shinobi)
September 28, 2016 4:14 p.m.
Not forcing it on ya but I gotta share my love for Quietus Spike... Granted you have a different layout than i do but i just feel like i gotta share how it can fit in the "5-Turn Clock" of Modern. This is my formula:
T1: Land + Triton Shorestalker + Ornithopter Opponent Life Total: 20
T2: Land attack with both Triton Shorestalker and Ornithopter. If Ornithopter goes unblocked then NINJUSTU Mistblade Shinobi to replace Ornithopter. After combat enchant Mistblade Shinobi with Aqueous Form and free-cast Ornithopter back in play. Opponent Life Total: 18
T3: Land + Quietus Spike + Ornithopter then attacking with both an unblockable Mistblade Shinobi and Triton Shorestalker. Opponent Life Total:16
T4: Land + Distortion Strike on Ornithopter then equip Mistblade Shinobi with Quietus Spike then attack with all unblockable Mistblade Shinobi (16-2=14 then Loses half life rounded down =7) and Triton Shorestalker and Ornithopter Opponent Life Total: 5
T5: REBOUND EFFECT FROM Distortion Strike on Ornithopter then attack with unblockable Mistblade Shinobi (5-2=3 then Loses half life rounded down =1) and Ornithopter and Triton Shorestalker Opponent Life Total: -1 G.G.
The Scry from Aqueous Form helps smooth out draws and can work for you faster and less mana intensive for unblockable than Thassa, God of the Sea...she seems like a nice optional finisher but are you able to get that devotion? (I ask cuz i normally only have around 4 creatures at a time on the battlefield) Higure, the Still Wind also makes ninjas unblockable and puts more ninjas in your hand... if you do end up liking Quietus Spike you should also consider Ronin Warclub because that actually fits the 5-turn clock too (much more impressive than it seems)

Boomzilla555 says... #16
Yeah i think that Thassa, God of the Sea is a decent solution, the scy before draw is really nice, and there is some utility too while youre waiting for 4 faeries and then you've got a solid body to swing with that can be made unblockedable.

@Icbrgr This deck has more focus on disrupting the opponent than trying to win fast. I'm not trying to win during the first 5 turns and would rather save up mana for counter or Bounce and poke them.
I'm trying out Thassa, God of the Sea as a finishes/smooth stuff card (I'm aware its just an overpriced Aqueous Form without devotion) and will see if I can get enough blues etc. I'm still very much considering a card like Harbinger of the Tides to go with it (8 ninjas might be overkill and get you awful hands at times).
"Higure, the Still Wind is 4-mana: deal 1-2 damage and draw a ninja after combat damage. The unblockable part is decent but it seems too clunky yes (ninjutsu activates after blockers so ninja's on board can not be made unblockable that turn..."
It's very possible that I should just take out thassa and play Adaptive Automaton instead, and will figure that out through some playtesting later.

Hey man, I play a fair amount of modern and am going to try my brew. Tell me how copter performs, I'm a little stingy with no creatures and if I do put that or swords in mistblade will probably get cut.

I have 10 1-drops, and the ninja's are also perfect for crewing on the second turn. I do agree tho, the Mistblade's are cuttable with copter, (possible that I don't need 4 copters aswell) and yes, SoFaI > Copter by a long shot. (Scion of Oona is cuttable aswell)
