@Bizarro_Stormy I do not suggest taking out Favored Hoplite . He is one of the best cards in this deck, so he is pretty much an auto 4-of. Instead, try getting rid of Seeker of the Way , who is just good for lifegain but not completely vital to the deck. 2x Ajani Steadfast isnt that bad as a 2-of. In fact, I think that 2 is a good number, since you want to try getting him fairly consistently. I also like 2-3 Fabled Hero . Maybe even 1-2 Ordeal of Heliod .

@fryiee Tested out nearly the same deck today, u wouldn't want any of those 2 cards. You usally end up with having just 1 or 2 beater that u enchant and protect, so you wont have many creatures on the board cuz in most matchups you must leave atleast 1 up for protection for your beater and you must keep spending mana on it to get it bigger. I wouldn't even considering playing any of these 2 cards.

Hey there, haven't had a chance to test this out yet but I'm wondering if anyone here has had any issues with flyers? The deck would seem to be vulnerable to them and I've considered adding [Akroan Skyguard] or at least side-boarding them???

Played this last wk and took second (3-1) at my LGS. Great deck and super fun! Thanks!

@TACNERD1.0 what fliers in particular? In my personal build, I run 2x Aqueous Form since it's not great in multiples, and instead 4x Stratus Walk for a bit of extra draw. This seems to be fine for me. Also, this deck tends to be a bit more aggressive, especially in matchups against any deck with fliers. It should be faster than decks that include Mantis Rider (Jeskai), Ashcloud Phoenix (Jeskai), Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker (Jeskai), Butcher of the Horde (Mardu Control, or Mardu Tokens), etc. Cards like Fabled Hero protected by Gods Willing and Ajani's Presence create a very fast clock for the opponent, and the swingback usually isn't an issue. The opponent has to focus more on stabilizing and staying alive than beating in with fliers. In addition, the enormous lifegain from Ordeal of Heliod (in my build) and Seeker of the Way , as well as Hopeful Eidolon can keep our life total fairly safe as we surge to victory. Another note: removal can also be added to the sideboard to counter your local meta. Pillar of Light , more Suspension Field , Singing Bell Strike , and maybe some Reprisal are all good to try out.

I was looking at this deck to get me started in magic. Online it looks like the prices for a few cards have gone up, is this deck still good value if I can get it for $40?

@kamdead I'm not sure, but I think that 40 bucks might be pushing it. I got this deck for about $28.76 including shipping, so maybe $33 might be the maximum price that is still reasonable. It might be a good idea just to try and trade for Eidolon of Countless Battles , Fabled Hero s, and Hero of Iroas . (Note: I personally run only 2x Eidolon, so you don't really need 4.) If you are really on a budget, then take out Eidolons and 2 Hero of Iroas , and go for a MassBoost theme with Phalanx Leader and Abzan Falconer (really depends on preference and playstyle). This MassBoost version I have never actually played myself, but I have heard it is still pretty good.

Ordeal of Heliod is also a decent option in my opinion. I plan on building a deck like this.

TolarianCommunityCollege I'm just wondering why you're running Singing Bell Strike over Suspension Field. You might have a very good reason but from my point of view I can't see how Singing Bell Strike is better.

@grimantis I personally like Feat over Ajani's Presence. I guess it's really up to you though, but the extra +1/+1 helps even things like Seeker of the Way be able to crack the Ordeals and swing for big lifelink damage. Again, up to you.

I'm a bit of a newb at this Magic thing still so I wanted to get your opinion on a couple of changes I made to this deck. Mainly I removed 2x Favored Hoplite and 1x Defiant Strike and I added 2x Ajani Steadfast and 2x Fabled Hero . Not sure how the math ended up working out on that, but I do have 60 cards. My question is, is it a good idea to have two of the same Planeswalker in the same deck or should I remove one and add something different? Thanks in advance, and thanks to TolarianCommunityCollege and Tom Ross for the inspiration.
