Replaced Fathom Mage with Champion of Lambholt : It's hard to get the evolve trigger with this deck, and I think I have enough other sources of card draw. This gives me a more definite win-con.
Biovisionary could be a sideboard card, but I sincerely doubt I could ever use it to win.

Incursion Specialist is kind of useless in this deck to be honest. You have 4 sorceries, that won't get the full effect of his ability, same with Delver of Secrets Flip unless you down your creature count and add in more instants/sorceries

Incursion Specialist doesn't require instants/sorceries: creature spells are spells too. It's actually very easy to cast two creature spells a turn and get his ability to go off. He works especially great with Tandem Lookout .
I agree that Delver of Secrets Flip kind of sucks here, but he's in there since he fits perfectly on the curve (I need a certain number of 1-drops), and the opponent is liable to react incorrectly when they see it.
February 23, 2013 11:44 p.m.
Oops didn't read that ability properly! Sorry! But your curve is already really low, 3 cmc max and 1 cmc min, that's pretty darn low. Wild Beastmaster could be good. Invisible Stalker would be a good replacement, or maybe just throw in more werewolves.

i love how u run Delver of Secrets Flip without the intention of flipping it! on a more serious note, looks good.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I want to keep Delver of Secrets Flip in, almost just for the irony (and there is that very small chance that it does flip!). If I were to replace it, I think the alternative would be Wolfbitten Captive Flip , but it's effect is actually more mana-intensive than I would like.

I agree with Royberto about replacing Incursion Specialist with Invisible Stalker .

I actually have several reasons I'd rather keep Incursion Specialist : It's the only way I can get the second evolve trigger for Experiment One , it allows me to be defensive if I need to be, and I feel that I have enough sources of card advantage (Mass Appeal , card:Descendants' Path does cast spells, and Tandem Lookout ) to consistently get his effect to go off.
February 25, 2013 5:02 p.m.
I've always liked Call to the Kindred better than card:Descendants' Path it's far more consistent, but it is far easier to remove, unless it's on a good creature like Invisible Stalker .
Elgaud Shieldmate might make a good companion for Champion of Lambholt if you felt like side-boarding her vs Kill/burn heavy decks.
Good luck to you on this deck, I always wanted to find a good way to make something based on Mass Appeal
+1

Personally in a deck that is so light on sorcerys or instants I'd use Deathcult Rogue over Incursion Specialist even if he is a 3 cost...
Deranged Outcast still costs 2 to play but rather than have a creature kill carded or removed you can pay a small price to instantly make better use of the corpse.

Call to the Kindred does have a more natural consistency, but I think my plan of stuffing as many creatures into a deck as possible does largely solve card:Descendants' Path's problems in that regard.
The creature-spam nature of the deck makes me confident that I can reliably use Incursion Specialist . I don't see the need for instant/sorceries for that effect (though I do see why it is normally preferable).
All this creature reliance also means I may have trouble with removal-heavy decks, so I think Elgaud Shieldmate , Invisible Stalker , and Deranged Outcast are all good sideboard candidates against decks with heavy removal.

Delver is like a bad joke here. Drop him and add Rancor .

It's not even a little bit funny? =(
I am willing to drop him, but I really want it to be replaced with another 1-drop human. Cards I'm looking at are card:Alchemist's Apprentice/Deranged Outcast , Ulvenwald Tracker /Nightshade Peddler , and Wolfbitten Captive Flip .

I know you really, really, reealllly want another human, but just think about a Champion of Lambholt or any creature paired with Tandem Lookout , swinging with double Rancor . Even card:Avacyn's Pilgrim would be better than delver.

Yeah, Avacyn's Pilgrim is better, even though I'm not going bant.

Also, Incursion Specialist and Mass Appeal aren't as good as you think.
What millage are you trying to get out of Avacyn's Pilgrim?
February 27, 2013 6:30 a.m.
mossflower says... #18
What I'm looking for from Avacyn's Pilgrim is to be able to do more things on turn 2 like: Tandem Lookout, Descendants' Path, Experiment One/Wingcrafter + Hamlet Captain/Incursion Specialist. Being able to cast Mass Appeal on turn 3 to draw 4 cards is very appealing.
I know that Incursion Specialist and Mass Appeal aren't normally good cards, but this deck is about making them good. Like I said, you normally want to cast Mass Appeal on turn 3 or 4, and unless the opponent has horribly derailed your plans (side-board?), it will draw you 3 or 4 cards. You will then begin to play those cards on that same turn. This deck may look like an aggro deck that's trying to win the quick damage game, but it's actually about drawing and playing so many creatures that you eventually overwhelm your opponent. Rancor doesn't immediately fit in that plan.

"it's actually about drawing and playing so many creatures that you eventually overwhelm your opponent." Thats a text book aggro deck, and one in which Rancor is generally at it's best.
The problem with Incursion Specialist is that it requires a lot of commitment and over extending to actually be useful, which can easily lead to blow outs with removal spells and or mass removal.
Mass Appeal is the better of the two, but it would be better if it were an instant. Spells like that are generally better when your behind and you need to recover board presence, so using it on a full board that your ahead on is usually unnecessary.
I like the idea of this deck, I really do, but I feel like you need more cards that are a little more resistant and perhaps add a few Wolfir Silverheart style finishers.
February 27, 2013 9:27 a.m.
Cyclonic Rift would be good sideboard to counter token decks. Ground Seal or Grafdigger's Cage to counter flashback/scavenge/reanimator decks
February 27, 2013 9:16 p.m.

More than having a finisher like Wolfir Silverheart, playtesting on cockatrice (until it went down) showed me that I really just want removal to deal with their Boros Reckoner or Silverblade Paladin bonded with Geist of Saint Traft. Staying alive just a little bit longer against other aggro decks makes a huge difference, so I'm even considering mainboarding Pongify Rapid Hybridization.
As for Cyclonic Rift, its overload cost seems out of reach: aggro vs. aggro matchups don't seem to go to turn 7. Grafdigger's Cage is definitely something to keep in mind if I see a lot of graveyard shenanigans.
February 28, 2013 3:58 a.m.
Holy crap! I just played this deck a couple times and it is insanely fast!Plenty of card-draw, lots of aggro. It's a fun deck even if matches don't last very long.
Great build dude!

I didn't get a chance to play it at FNM yesterday, but play-testing against friends has been going well. Hopefully will be able to go to FNM next week.

I also had a few test runs, as I really do like the concept.
I've found that Descendants' Path is pretty unnecessary and I would consider adding some form of interaction along the lines of perhaps Simic Charm and or other bounce spells.

I love the nature of the deck! No joke. I think you should run 2 Druids' Repositorys. When you play Mass Appeal for 1 billion cards, it can let you play alot of those!
