If I get Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver against MUD I'll win most of the matches

I would argue/look at Underworld Connections or something similar to get you some draw going on. you might even to fit Garruk, Caller of Beasts in here if you want to remove one of the other planeswalkers for similar.

To be honest, and I don't mean to take away from your wins but I feel that the decks that you played at FNM were tier 2 decks at best, none of the decks you beat listed are TOP8 decks. Congrats nonetheless.

Yeah the 4-0 night was t1.5-t2+ decks. The recent 3-1 was vs the R/W devo MBD (loss to mana screw) land destruction and Junk Slap. The junk deck is right near being t1 but the land base is hurting it atm.

Ya well those decks are super legit and if u went 3-1 there this deck is well on its way to proving itself. Keep it up man I love homebrews that are not super well known that can beat T1 decks, they're by far the most fun part of magic imo. Anyone can copy a net-deck and win but few and far between can basically create an archetype of their own!

It's been rough, I need 2x Mistcutter Hydra for the side to be able to completely shut MUD down right now
January 21, 2014 3:21 p.m.
yup seems to be a necessary sideboard at the moment as that is looking like the strongest devotion at the moment though the meta will shift in BOTG. Some people even run 4 of if they have the room in their board.

Definitely, the Skylasher 's already do a lot of work against MUD and MBD with Nightveil Specter

There is definitely a little bit of everything in this deck. You have a lot of great cards here and a really impressive score so maybe I am just not getting it but I think you are short on lands with your average CMC being 3. When I playtested I always came up short on mana. I would run 23 or 24 to keep the curve going up. By T5 I always had big cards in hand that I could not get down. I did always have the color I needed so that part is working.
I think that Deadly Recluse would be better than Skylasher against anything other than Blue
I went 5-0 playtesting against my deck Gatos Blancos | New Take on Mono White so maybe I am not running your deck right, but I would be interested to know what your results are and any feedback you might have for me.

Skylasher stops Nightveil Specter continuously being pro blue.

Yes I agree, but Deadly Recluse kills Nightveil Specter and all the Big nasty Angels and Dragons and Vampires that fly. More of a threat IMHO unless you play primarily against Blue meta.

My meta is disgustingly MUD and variations of it

The first things that come to mind from Born Of The Gods are: Bile Blight for dealing with tokens, etc. and Kiora, the Crashing Wave for Stall or Ramp. Bow of Nylea +Prophet of Kruphix is especially frustrating to play against. Downside to Kiora is having the same CMC as Jace. Devotion to blue could have problems vs Kiora if they're playing permission rather than aggro. Otherwise, my first reaction is that Vraska should stay more so than Ashiok, and with all the tokens from various sources Jace's +1 is a must. Also, the combination of Kiora, Jace, and Vraska offers some interesting wordplay on K/J/V ('Obey the KJV' or something of that nature - KJV being the 'King James Version' of the Bible...)
Personally I would playtest or proxy Bow of Nylea in Ashiok's 2 slots, not sure what to exchange for Blight and Kiora...

Forgot to add, 22 lands is risky for a tricolor looking at your CMCs. 22 works fine in mono-color, but without heavy land-ramping I'd suggest 23-24. The Caryatids are very, very good, but IMHO I wouldn't want to rely on just them to hit 'takeoff' velocity. When building my own decks, the last few nonlands are the hardest ones to thin.

I dig this deck. I've actually been working on a BUG deck myself and will probably reference this one for ideas. +1 from me. I can't wait to see how this deck fairs Mono Blue and Mono Black devotion decks.
