The deck was designed by Broken City School of Magic Faculty Ian Baker, Jared Maguire and Shawn Petsche as a complete exercise in learning how to apply Mike Flores' "Who's the beatdown?" article to games of magic. You can be the beatdown or you can be control, and learning when to be which is going to be the key for success. The deck is capable of nut draws like Turn 3 Frost Titan/Grave Titan, exploits Lotus Cobra and the 8 enemy fetches to the maximum, but also can respond to a multitude of threats and change gears quickly. Garruk Wildspeaker untapping for Doom Blade/Mana Leak mana is a strong play.
