Wouldn't Desecration Demon go better than Shipbreaker Kraken ??

He is WAY cheaper for sure, specially when you count the monsterous cost. . But, Desecration Demon never turns out to be what I want him to be. I used him for awhile in a JUND build and he was removed everytime. I also like trying something new, shaking up the meta in my area and seeing if people have answers for it. Also at 4 CMC if for some reason I have Vraska and Kraken out I can still boardwipe up to 4cmc but keep my wincons.

I feel like if Desecration Demon were used in place of Shipbreaker Kraken , his ability would render him fairly useless as a win-con. Don't get me wrong, the card is ridiculous in almost all circumstances, but...idk...

Nice. I find the Demon a bit the same. If you're up against token strategies especially, it's just too easy for them to sac and stop him blocking. I really want to like the Kraken, so I hope he works well for you :)

I see you have Reaper of the Wilds in the maybe board. I had a chance to play with it at prerelease, and its an absolute boss card. with the deathtouch threat and the card advantage... I know it's another 4cmc, but it's really terrific. Dunno what I'd select from this to remove for it though, lol.

Yeah, I really like Reaper of the Wilds . . but Im pretty iffy on taking anything cheap out and I dont quite know how well it will work overall yet. . Im really excited for my preorders to come in.

Far / Away is too good of a card to pass if you have blue and black.

Yeah I swapped the 4x for a 3x and increased the Abrupt Decay s +1.Im running 3x a lot of spells and 4x Syncopate I should be able to pull 1 ea of them more times than not. I like the Simic Charm but i think youre right, having 1 more abrupt decay is better than just running 2x

playtest against my deckBant'N'Chant please tell me what you think of my deck.

I REALLY like the efficiency of your deck, i played it against my Bant'N'Chant--- mine won at turn 26. your deck constantly was killing my things off and countering, mine countered your planeswalkers and aetherlings until i could finally pull off my combo. LOL most boring matchup ever it really was. I think you should add some card draw or Jarad's Orders I know if your deck had drawn more of the win-cons I would've lost.

September 28, 2013 9:47 p.m.

I wan't to say that you should add more creatures, but it seems like you got enough control spells for days. I wouldn't want to go against it in a tournament but I think you did good with it. Thumbs up for the deck and the name.

Have you thought of playing Read the Bones instead of divination since you're playing black anyway? Same cost, plus scry 2 before you dry is pretty powerful, potentially digging you 4 cards deep. It is a tradeoff however with the life loss, and I can understand if you just prefer divination :P

September 29, 2013 2:09 p.m.

chandlerwrx06 says... #18

Yeah I've thought of running the Read the Bones but I worry a lot about dealing with my lack of life gain. U/W has Sphinx's so its easy to use it in an expert deck. I'm just too cautious I think to get full use of the scry that read the bones offers.

September 29, 2013 4:25 p.m.

.I agree with @Sheogorath personally. In my deck Pack Rat and Friends (enh enh :D) I recently started to run it and I think that it is twice as good as Sign in Blood was. In a pinch where you are for example drawing too much land, you could use it and make sure that you don't draw 2 more lands and then card advantage. Two life isn't that big a deal anyway if you are controlling the board. It's the same as a shock land, ya know?

That makes a lot of sense, Read the Bones is a common so Im sure I will have a few rolling around. I'll swap them in for Divination to see how I like it, tiny little mana tweaking and everything should be very seemless.

itheoryz says... #21

I would mainboard Thoughtsieze don't need to leave mana up to deal with the threat if they never have it. Also i think i great wincon is Reaper of the Wilds Hes everything. A beater, blocker, and doesn't get shot down... sounds like a mini aetherling.

chandlerwrx06 says... #22

Hmm, I like it. Reaper can offer an earlier start to winning. I think Shipbreaker Kraken is really fun and I'd like to see him work. . . buuuut, Reaper of the Wilds fits the deck a lot better.

Opportunity is an instant and so may be a better fit that Divination .

Omenspeaker is a decent early blocker with a relevant effect as well.

Maybe consider a Cyclonic Rift over one Golgari Charm ?

first off...I have been recommending this EVERYWHERE because this is the mOST overlooked card for post rotation....

Rapid Hybridization ....I MEAN SERIOUSLY LOOK AT THIS CARD! 1 cmc...and against black decks you can 3 CMC a black creature then use Doom Blade to finish it off. or just as a massive Kalonian Hydra is about to hit...nope, its a token

it also does not deal damage so that is nice.I mean, it is a weaker Abrupt Decay but for 1 CMC and pops out a token...

Also you can target your own AEtherling , then bounce him, and as the stack stays you get the 3/3 token...

think about it

October 1, 2013 2:53 p.m.

Sheogorath says... #25

Inces_Velus if you bounce the aetherling then the rapid hybridization would have no target so therefore would have no effect, including no token.
