I strongly suggest throwing in the finisher Flame Blast into the main board, because you wont need land if you need to throw that last 4 damage by 5th turn.

A common thing that's done, is using Land Grant with duel lands... A possibility is using Manamorphose if there is slots for this deck..

I suggest side-boarding Skullcrack for Flame Rift .

Nice use of Vanishing!!

jenova_death hey thanks for commenting! the cards in the sb aren't legal in modern. there for switching the deck to a legacy deck. Manamorphose is a very interesting card, and i will consider it. if you like the deck please +1

For Legacy, add 4 Price of Progress. 1R Player takes 2x the number of non-basic lands they have in play as damage. From Exodus. It's awesome :)

I just put together a modern aggro deck. Here is what I used:

16 Mountains4 Teetering Peaks4 Lightning Bolt2 Shard Volley2 Rift Bolt4 Brute Force4 Vexing Devil4 Spark Elemental4 Goblin Guide4 Hellspark Elemental4 Viashino Sandstalker4 Ball Lightning4 Hell's Thunder

It's still a burn deck, just a lot of it runs or flies across the table instead of just to the dome :) Also, Jenova meant Fireblast from Visions. 4RR or sac 2 mountains for 4 damage. If you end up going more heavily on creatures, I'm a fan of Reckless Abandon (or Goblin Grenade if Goblins) to throw 4 more damage at them before you sac your guy away.

Disclaimer: That red deck I listed is still theoretical, I have yet to play any games with it. I may stick 2 Sulfuric Vortex and either 2 Lava Spikes, 2 more Rift Bolt or 2 Keldon Marauders in instead of the 2 missing Shard Volleys and 2 Hellspark Elementals I'm currently short. I like what you have posted tho and the draw fixing of Magma Jet is tempting in my own deck.

For Legacy Price of Progress is necessary.

Both formats deserve Grim Lavamancer and Vexing Devil taken into consideration.

Searing Blaze works best with fetch lands ala Arid Mesa and Scalding Tarn , as to activate Landfall on your opponent's turn. I would either add fetches or take out a few Searing Blaze in favor of something else.

Eidolon of the Great Revel is Pyrostatic Pillar on a stick. Awesome card!!! Blood Moon does more work than Molten Rain in my experience.

This is definitley more of a Burn deck and I play Red Deck Wins. Difference being the creature count, primarily. None-the-less, here are my Modern and Legacy RDW decks for reference:

@aeonstoremyliver price of progress was definitely an oversite should be in there. I have playtested the devil but I'm just not a fan. To often is there dead removal spell turned into a gain 4. Its also a bad topdeck when you need the 1 burn spell. Grim lavamancer suffers from the same problems as vexing devil and his effectiveness diminishes without fetches. I'm not legally old enough to have a job and thus can't really afford fetches or blood moon. Eidolon of great revel in testing felt like it had a weaker damage ouput then Keldon. I appreciate the suggestions price of progress will go in.

@aeonstoremyliver I think I will remove 1 searing blaze to test out a mb sudden shock. At worst its a 2 mana shock, but its insane against infect, arc bound ravager , and random counter spells . can also stop a pestermite combo in its tracks through counters.

@SSquirrel Price of progress is in! Your deck list is definitely a rdw and not burn. My deck list is almost as close as possible to straight burn in modern. Magma jet has been pretty awesome at stopping flooding.

@ownageban this is Burn rather than RDW. Burn runs little to zero creatures. RDW runs 16-20+ creatures.

Back to the OP of the deck. I've found that Eidolon of the Great Revel may eat removal like a boss, however Keldon Marauders is bound to do the same. Eidolon though has a greater potential damage output than Marauders, plus gives you an edge against Storm. Vexing Devil can work better in a RDW vs Burn, but if no removal resides in the opponent's hand, they'll take 4 to sac it. If you want something else to stick later, like Grim Lavamancer , then Devil is more than worth the investment.

Before I got I into playing RDW in Legacy and Modern, I read a plenty. What I discovered is that RDW has more of an advantage in both formats over Burn. I would encourage you to lean towards more of that route.

Price of Progress , Blood Moon (main, or S/B, I havn't experimented with this before), Vexing Devil are musts!! I've personally experimented with Flame Rift , it is strong, however, I do find that casting 2 1cc 3ping cards to be more effective, even when down a card, however that won't matter at 5th turn, as the game should have ended by then.

@aeonstoremyliver I appreciate the suggestion but I would rather play straight burn. Your comment got me thinking, I should play more games with eidolon. I think vexing devil and lavamancer are both very powerful cards and when you have other even more powerful threats like ball lightning them dying is fine, but my aim for this deck is to invalidate removal by playing burn and creatures that are burn.

You're probably going to want to run Fetchlands if you're running Grim Lavamancer.

TurboFagoot if i had fetches id use them #budgetproblems. lavamancer is alot better with fetches but im testing him to see if hes worth running without them. flames 3-4 might be better tho

2 Lavamancer seems right without fetches. Fetches also make Searing Blaze more potent, allowing you to crack a fetch, triggering Landfall on your opponent's turn.
