I do this thing with Swiftfoot Boots where when you have em out they always take 4 dam for vexing devil which is what you want and then I also play Spikeshot Elder and Claws of Valakut combo. I like spikeshot kinda better than lavamancer because you will have a conflict of interest between pyromancer ascension and him. Because exileing your spells means no triggers no triggers no counters no counters no copy. Why play both?

Have you thought of Searing Blood instead of Searing Blaze ? It doesn't require a land but only does 2 damage to a creature.

Great deck, but one change if I may suggest? Move your Satyr Firedancer s to the sideboard, remove the Surgical Extraction s and add Staggershock and maybe a single copy of Isochron Scepter .

I'm going to address the deck, and then all of the comments.
Deck:-4 firedancer: he's too cute, you'd rather have another burn spell+2-3 mountain: if you're playing koth, you want to be able to cast him. 17 isn't nearly enough.Browbeat might be okay, I'd strongly recommend against it though. I'd also cut down to 2-3 magma jets, as generally you want higher impact spells. Finally, you definitely want skullcrack. Helpful against rev, wurmcoil, etc. Another consideration is blood moon main: wrecks a lot of decks, and you don't give a shit about it.
Sideboard: Blood moon you probably want as a 4 of, it punishes many decks very significantly. Skullcracks should be in the maindeck, and I'd recommend smash to smithereens over smelt. Finally, I'd recommend Anger of the Gods over Volcanic Fallout, because a) it wrecks melira pod and b) zoo plays a bunch of dudes with 3 toughness.
Now as to the comments:Bump is alright if you really want, I'd stick to mono-red or red-white now that deathrite is banned though, especially if you want the blood moon plan. Also, bonfire is not going to be at its best here; any miracle card in burn you are more likely to have in your opening hand than topdeck.
Immortal servitude is way too slow, also costs triple of a colour that is not red, which is going to make it impossible to cast.
Spikeshot elder and swiftfoot boots are both too slow, and claws of valakut is a good way to get yourself 2-for-1'd, which you can't afford in a deck like burn. Pyromancer ascension is also bad, just play grim lavamancer. For the same reason I recommend anger of the gods over fallout, I'd recommend searing blaze over searing blood.
Finally, as to the maybe board cards that I haven't addressed yet:Ball lightning is alright if you expect a lot of leylines, really easy to just get it removed thoughForked bolt doesn't do as much as you would want it toPillar of flame is fantastic, especially if you face a lot of melira pod or hatebears. I strongly recommend maybe 2 maindeck (change if you face a lot or not a lot of pod) and maybe 1 in the board.
Good luck with the deck.

Personally, I prefer Seal of Fire to Shard Volley , if only because losing a land, even in burn, can be a bit of a heavy price for just one extra damage. Though my reasoning for the seal is that it can be saved on turn one for exactly when you need it, and even if they attempt to remove it you can simply sacrifice it in response and get your two damage to something regardless.
February 10, 2014 8:04 p.m.
Akamatsu, I would never personally choose Seal of Fire over Shard Volley . Volley is used for the final damage, or when you are flooding, not as your opening salvo. And while you dismiss the difference between 2 and 3 damage, that difference can change the game entirely. As for seal turn 1, no. You Goblin Guide or Lightning Bolt turn 1. Never leave permanents for your opponent to use, especially when playing mono-red burn.

thanks Pethrax, Akamatsu and zavec for the help. I am thinking about running 4x Arid Mesa just to ramp through my deck a little quicker and then after i sac it it give me some fuel for Grim Lavamancer . Input is welcome

You need Keldon Maraurders. Browbeat and Hellspaek Elemental isn't good, Koth of the Hammer is so expensive, 4 manas

Definitely mainboard Skullcrack over Satyr Firedancer . Also I highly recommend splashing black if just for Bump in the Night . Any one for threes are worth having. As for Grim Lavamancer , it's at its best when using fetchlands; otherwise it would be better to use something like Keldon Marauders or the hellsparks you're already using.

I would run more lands. I run a similar deck, and I have problems with less than 19 lands. Both Browbeat and Koth of the Hammer should be cut for 2 more lands and a Shard Volley . I think that Satyr Firedancer isn't very good. Skullcrack would be much better.

Why not Pyromancer Ascension with all those multiple copy spells and just run Vexing Devil and Ball Lightning to help keep the board clean? The enchantment that turns all basic lands to mountains is great, but isn't modern flooded with nonbasic lands and gates?
February 17, 2014 5:56 p.m.
Lawls I argued my own case against myself its nonbasic lands not basic! nevermind I get it now its a great enchantment for murder-facing control decks I don't know what I was thinking.

I agree with Zavec's addition of Smash to Smithereens . Running two of those and two Shattering Spree in the board instead of four Sprees would be relevant in more situations.

It's nice to see Modern Burn Decks up and coming again =) and yes giving you +1 for this. Yes, Arid Mesa and Scalding Tarn fits well in here most especially since you have some more food for Grim Lavamancer to eat. With the fetches, you are now open to include shocklands such as Blood Crypt to cast Bump in the Night and Sacred Foundry if ever you want to include Lightning Helix or Boros Charm in. Also, I agree putting Searing Blood as a replacement for Searing Blaze in here.
I've built Burn Decks for both Legacy and Modern. Here's mine: The Burning Legacy and Bolt, Burn and Fetch!!

Thanks koth_of_the_bummer for the input. I think i have pretty much maximized a modern mono red deck right now. I know after i get the fetch lands i will probly look into spashing white or black to give myself a few more options to play.

I was wondering, can you afford losing a Mountain
when casting Shard Volley
mid-game? 'Cuz you have 18 lands and no more.
Looks nice to play with, and the name... love it. +1 from me dude.

Busse as far as Shard Volley goes i definiatly try to wait until ihave 3 or more land and i only use it if it is for the kill or to eliminate a threat that cannot wait. i have not had any issues with it so far.

Splash black or white for Immortal Servitude and all those one drops? I've had good luck with in a WUR build.
