@GeminiSpartanX

I have thought about Teetering Peaks but I don't have them yet, probably test them and see if they could do well. Also about Wear / Tear and Skullcrack I'm in for that idea and I'll most likely put Wear / Tear on the side.

+1 This deck looks great. Maybe I'll even make a version of this deck myself one day, but for now I'm going to stick to my mono-red deck, Feelin' The Burn? by: DatOneGuy (sorry the link can't find my deck). My only suggestions are maybe running Shattering Blow in the sideboard over Smash to Smithereens only because life gain is obviously the worst thing that can happen to a burn deck and Shattering Blow will get rid of those pesky Wurmcoil Engine , which are often ran in Tron decks. Also I feel like you should run the Goblin Guide over Spark Elemental because the Goblin Guide can also be used as a blocker if need be. Plus you can also get more than the 3 damage out of 1 Goblin Guide if you can get him to swing in on round 2, were as Spark Elemental is a one and done creature. Basically Goblin Guide gives you a lot more options than the Spark Elemental .

Oh and maybe 2x Path to Exile in the sideboard could also help with the other problematic creatures, such as, Spellskite or as mentioned before Wurmcoil Engine .

I agree with DatOneGuy, I think that Goblin Guide over Spark Elemental is a very smart choice. A plus side to him is that you get to see what to prepare for when they reveal, although it could be a drawback as well.

I also think that you want Skullcrack in the side instead of Leyline of Punishment . Leyline is a bit of a gamble. Path to Exile is probably smart instead of Shattering Blow .

My biggest suggestions would be reconsidering Grim Lavamancer and thinking about adding in Skullcrack .

Grim is just a powerhouse in a deck fully of fetches. It can wreck the board of anything problematic or aim at the face as you burn. I've had games where all I've done is feed my grim for the win because they were unable to remove it in time. In addition, because it is an activated ability, it is very difficult to counter and even if they bolt it, after the turn he is cast, he is basically getting in that 2 damage no matter what.

As for Skullcrack , I cannot stress enough how badly life gain hurts this deck. I've had numerous matches where Tron is swinging with Wurmcoil Engine or a deck hits me with Lightning Helix in response to my bolt and stopping it is the only reason I won.

Satyr Firedancer for burning players and creatures AT THE SAME TIME!! ZOMG! Also, Isochron Scepter might be good to imprint your helix upon for turn after turn burn/lifegain. +1 for burning love, though! Check out my burn deck: Kill it with FIRE!!

@Buckminsterfullerene

I've tried those before, but then it wasn't that consistent. Anyway, thanks for the suggestions.

Rakdos Charm in the sideboard for affinity/twin. Shard Volley is bad. Molten Rain in the maindeck.

Eidolon of the Great Revel as a four of and 3 Grim Lavamancer are both burn staples.

Cut Magma Jet as it sucks, and Lightning Helix

@IRollTwnties and @quesobueno123

Thanks for the suggestions!!

I have yet still to get copies of Eidolon of the Great Revel and Grim Lavamancer here. Also, I haven't updated my sideboard and yes, Rakdos Charm is a good toolbox card, although I'm not that sure about Molten Rain especially in the main.

you have 3 Searing Blaze in the main and 2 in side...

Why splash black for only one card in the main, Bump in the Night, and one card in the side Rakdos Charm?

In my opinion add a play set of Lightning Strike for instant speed and more constintency.

By the way, good deck! +1

@arfio

I forgot to edit the sideboard, so thanks for reminding me.

Regarding, Lightning Strike, it is a no for me. I would rather have Incinerate which is far better. Bump in the Night is a black Lava Spike and costs only 1 to cast and I can always cast it consistently.

Burn spells that deals 3 damage for 2 mana (with a few exceptions) is usually a no go for Modern Burn.

just a little note. your description says mardu. mardu is red white black. i think you mean naya which is red white green. my guess is that you had black in before but changed it to green and just forgot to edit the description.

@aholder7

Ah yeah right, thanks. It was indeed Mardu from before when I'm still using Bump in the Night pre-DTR. Switched to Naya when I added Atarka's Command.

Vexing Devil should have a spot in here somewhere

May 18, 2015 5:23 a.m.

@magicalhobbits

I had devil at one point prior to the introduction of Eidolon of the Great Revel and Monastery Swiftspear and has been replaced by these. I might include him again someday, but for now this one works for me.

Vexing Devil is not part of teir 1 burn anymore.

I see that you also would like a R/W fast land to exist, but what about Clifftop Retreat in its place? You almost always have a mountain in play with all of the fetching for basics or shock lands that this deck does, so it should be similar enough.

how can Lava Spike and Boros Charm get around Spellskite?

July 14, 2015 7:56 a.m.

Kjartan says... #24

rlowry93 Because, spellskite isn't a legal target.

July 14, 2015 9:17 a.m.

That's correct. Both Boros Charm and Lava Spike target players only, thus is not a legal target for Spellskite. Similarly, it can't target a Bump in the Night, Skullcrack and Atarka's Command.
