It turns out there are some Jund decks you can't beat. This is DEFINITELY one of them.

Thank you, I wouldn't say it's unbeatable but I'm doing my best to make it as competitive as I can because I do quite enjoy this deck.

I was making some changes to it last night and this is what it looks like right now. Still need to pick up a few of the sideboard cards but other than that this is the deck I take to my LGS.

Realistically I would up the land count to 24. With the amount of retrace you are attempting to do, you really do not want to be mana screwed. In addition to this, it makes more land-heavy opening hand more keepable, as the lands become action with your retrace cards. Also, attempting to cast a 5 cmc creature like gitrog on 22 lands seems a touch unlikely, as you really need to hit a loam to do so. I would cut ray of revelation and ancient grudge to the sb for the two more lands, and cut gitrog and/or thermo alchemist for lingering souls. Also, think about pyromancer's ascension for extra spice.

Cultist.Of.Rakdos, thank you for the suggestions. I may drop the 2 cards to the sideboard for more lands, but I won't be cutting The Gitrog Monster. He is one of my favorite cards and he has done some work for me in this deck, I can see how cutting him could add more speed or consistency to the deck but it has been running fairly well for me, and I can always use him as discard fodder if necessary. This deck started with a full set of Pyromancer's Ascension and it just never really worked out for me.

Thank you again for the suggestions.

if you want to stick to the retrace plan a one of Dakmor Salvage can help ensure you can retrace each turn

jchudz, I hadn't thought of that. I am able to fairly consistently retrace with Life from the Loam but throwing in Dakmor Salvage as a one-of couldn't hurt. Has good synergy with The Gitrog Monster as well.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I would love to see how this plays. I'm not a huge fan of the Gitrog Toad, but this seems like the perfect deck for Dark Confidant.

Xatta, I probably wouldn't run The Gitrog Monster if it wasn't one of my favorite cards. The deck would probably be 'better' without it but I just can't bring myself to cut him. Dark Confidant might be good but with a $50 price tag, I don't really pay much mind to him when building. Thank you for the suggestion, if I ever get my hands on any I will definitely try it out.

Why Rift Bolt over Lightning Bolt? I feel like normal bolt would just be better outright, being instant speed whenever.

SilentSpook, normally I would have to agree that running Lightning Bolt would be better because of the instant speed, but Rift Bolt has better synergy with Sin Prodder. I ran into a few situations where I would flip L-Bolt over on Prodder's trigger and they would take the 1 damage over giving me L-Bolt. So I decided to swap it out for R-Bolt and give it some playtesting since an opponent would have to take 3 damage on Prodder's trigger instead of just the 1 from L-Bolt. Plus being able to suspend it can sometimes slow an opponents play down.

So this deck looks really cool. It's a really spicy list. However, what does Ensnaring Bridge really do for you that extra removal couldn't do in its place? I think this list could go down the bridges for either extra copies of Abrupt Decay or Terminate, or even bring in something like Maelstrom Pulse.

I also really like the idea of retrace with Burning Vengeance. Someone suggested Lingering Souls, however I think this would be a better home for a 1 of Worm Harvest. It works great with what you want to do, and gives you blockers (which I'm sure is what the bridge is for). Or even Young Pyromancer?

Also have you thought of any walkers for the deck? I know Lilli of the Veil is to expensive, so she's not even on the radar, but what about like Xenagos, the Reveler or Sorin, Solemn Visitor? (I know lord of inistrad is better, but again prices.) These are just some minor things that may help.

Lastly what is your meta like at your lgs? If interested the community may be able to help you build a sb suitable to your situation (if needed).

Oh there is also another combo that goes great with Burning Vengance. Haakon, Stromgald Scourge and Nameless Inversion. Continual removal and damage with Burning. Food for thought.

Tingettley, thank you for the feedback. When I first put this list together, it looked completely different and actually included a few cards you mentioned like Young Pyromancer and Worm Harvest as a way to block while I try to get Burning Vengeance online. I am running Ensnaring Bridge because in my testing and play of this list I can fairly consistently get empty-handed keeping me better protected from creatures. I also have two copies of Liliana of the Veil that I ran in here for a time, I'm doing some testing without her since I will be running her in another deck, but I will also switch her back in because, well because she's LotV. Maelstrom Pulse could be quite useful in the sideboard going against heavy token decks. I'll have to try to get my hands on the Haakon/Nameless combo because that could be quite useful and fits well with the theme of the deck.

To name a few, my LGS has; Skred Red, Death's Shadow Aggro, Zoo, Storm, Aristocrats, Bant Spirits. Plus a lot of the players like to run different decks from event to event.

Thanks again for your input!
