A mono-red deck for the nyx set using cards that have been spoiled so far and will continue to add as more is revealed. Feedback is welcome
Deck explination:
One Drops
Shock
is here for obvious reasons, and
Spite of Mogis
is a good mid to end game card.
Rakdos Cackler
is here in case it is possbile to be more aggressive
Two drops
Lightning Strike and Magma Jet are staple burn spells. Wild Guess is good card draw and because you discard a card it works with
Spite of Mogis
or you can discard a land you may not need. Young Pyromancer is a fantastic creature and versus non aggressive or non creature decks this card works out to beat down really fast.
Three drops
Chandra's Phoenix
is a great card with the haste and the return mechanic and a way of inflicting this extra damage each turn helps greatly. Guttersnipe is a powerful three drop that can accelerate the game. This causes
lighting strike
to do five damage to a player rather than three.
Four drops
Fated Conflagration
is here for planeswalkers and Large creatures and we have more in the sideboard in case we fight larger creatures or or elspeth decks
Five drops
the five drops in this deck are used to deal the finishing blow to your opponent. One such card is Lava Axe not a powerful card in it's own right but when combined with Guttersnipe and the last card can be the easy kill. The last card is Dictate of the Twin Gods. This card is fantastic. Doubling the damage of each burn spell you control, yes it includes your opponent but because of it's flash you play it at the end of your opponents turn and then kill them. Lets look at the numbers, Lava Axe cast after this card will do ten damage. If Guttersnipe is in play then that is fourteen damage in one turn. Note only should this card be played if you can are certain of the kill.
Side board
Satyr Firedancer is a counter card to aggressive decks and still maintain the ability to burn your opponent. It's also good for taking out larger creatures and improve the efficiency of multiple burn spells. Also if they use something like Nightveil Specter it is easy to kill and get more efficient use out of your lightning strike. It also synergies with
Skull Crack
. The anti life gain card can kill creatures with this.
We have extra
Fated Conflagration
which is mandatory vs elspeth and other planeswalkers and dangerous creatures such as Polukranos, World Eater
An extra Lava Axe is in for those decks that we need to kill faster
