Why Purphoros, God of the Forge over Hammer of Purphoros ? Is it for the burn effect? Especially since you could use the hammer with Xenagos to sac all your lands, and create creatures to provide more mana from Xenagos

Yes TrumpetforKings, the Purphoros is for the 2dmg as a creature comes into play. With the mass amount of tokens I can generate I can kill many opponents with just having my tokens enter the battle field. The hammer is good but it is only 1 small 3/3 token per turn since it has to tap to activate...which isnt bad, but to also sac a land is quite steep for just a 3/3.

No Doubling Season ? Especially with all your walkers? I'd almost take out the Ant Queen for it. Think about it- ulting with Sarkhan the turn he enters, ulting with Garruck on turn 6 and getting 12 wurms, ulting with Xenagos and getting more land and creatures turn 4. There is absolutely no reason (besides price) to not put a full playset of Doubling Season in here.

JA14732 Would you get rid of the Ant Queens or the Parallel Lives for the doubling seasons?

Thanks JA14732, I just produced a combo that I didn't notice before. With Sarkhan Vol's -6 (make 5 4/4 dragon tokens) with doubling seasons out, turns into 10 4/4 tokens, but his +1 gives all creatures haste and +1/+1. I can pull this combo off as early as turn 4. As well as the obvious and overly powerful ultimate from Garruk,

+4 Doubling Season -2 Ant Queen -3 Parallel Lives +1 Elvish Mystic

You're welcome. I was quite curious about the lack of Doubling Season. It is literally the best token enchantment of all time, and I was happy to pull a full playset during the time of Modern Masters.

One was foil.

I'm never giving it up.

Ever.

JA14732 Well the reason I didnt have it in there before was that it costs 5 to play and I usually had most of my combos already done by the time I even was able to play it in simulation, but that way of thinking was for my older version of this deck that wasn't as smooth and predictable. The way it is now works very well.

I don't see how Doubling Season helps any more than Parallel Lives , except with Avenger of Zendikar , Dragon Broodmother , and Mycoloth . It doesn't do anything to Sarkhan's first ability, as the ability is like Glorious Charge with added haste. No counters. And the fact that you have to wait a turn is kinda stupid.

TrumpetsforKings Doubling Season's counter ability is unique where it also doubles the amount of loyalty counters as planeswalkers come into play (but not when you roll them up). So I can use Sarkhan's Ult right away. I was wrong about the +1/+1 ability, creatures wouldnt get haste because I wouldnt be able to roll him again, my bad, brain fart... But I am able to get 10 4/4 dragons on turn 4 using his ult right away and then doubling the tokens he puts out.

Has everybody forgotten about Kessig Wolf Run ? Off the back of Xenagos, The Reveler seems good.

MyRevival I had it in this deck, but I never really got the chance to use its +X and trample ability in actual game play. Issue is I run a low amount of lands in this deck because of ramp and xenagos and I had trouble getting my Dragon Broodmother and Dragonlair Spider (spider isnt in the deck anymore) out into play because they require alot of colored mana (red being the issue); without xenagos...the deck would stall out almost every time because Kessig Wolf Run only produces colorless :(.

Understood. Yeah, trying to run low lands has always been a disaster for me. Even in my aggro mono-white soldiers, I typically run 24 plains.

MyRevival I also usually run 24 lands...but with 24 in this deck i end up with too much mana and not enough happening with it.

I would suggest Primordial Hydra and Fungal Sprouting . It doesn't have to be Primordial Hydra but it is the best choice. But if you decide you don't want to use him, it should be a creature that has an x mana cost so that you have a thing to pour all of your mana into. This works great because Fungal Sprouting will flood that field with more than enough tokens to slaughter the opponent after being fueled by something so large. Also if you are having a problem with getting red mana, just drop some forests for mountains. But a better choice would be Stomping Ground , or if your not willing to spend the money on shocks just add some Gruul Guildgate

Also why Elvish Mystic ? If you are running G/R I would say put in Zhur-Taa Druid instead or just split them 50/50 and go 2x of each. He does damage when he taps for his mana and that is better than just tapping for mana alone.

Reaperkingmtg What would I drop for Primordial Hydra or Fungal Sprouting ?I will try to test the Zhur-Taa Druid But getting mana dorks down on turn 1 and turn 2 are really really important in this deck. But I really like the damage all opponent aspect of that card since I almost only use this deck for multiplayer.

This is a 60 card deck so I would suggest pulling one Mycoloth and one Dragon Broodmother for Primordial Hydra . That way you will still have three of each and still have a good chance of drawing them in the game. I would say that you should drop 2 lands for Fungal Sprouting . I know that it doesn't sound great to toss lands out of the deck, but you do have cards that can supplement or find the mana that you are losing. I would also say that you should make the land distribution 9x forests, 7x mountains, and 4x Rootbound crags. I personally play 40 spells 20 lands. I use cards like Transguild Promenade to attempt to close that color gap because I also have a habit of running into the color distribution problem.

Reaperkingmtg Here are your suggestions. Butthurt by Tokens V3 I am going to test it out but I don't know if I want to use Fungal Sprouting yet since most of my token generation is free off of the card abilities.

Reaperkingmtg says... #20

That is true and I understand your point. However, the idea for the Fungal Sprouting is to help ensure victory against a deck that would destroy your token generators with things like Doom Blade , Hero's Downfall , and Dreadbore . An intelligent player would most likely target the creatures and planeswalkers fueling the token production before moving on to the actual attackers because the attackers can be dealt with in other ways like preventing combat damage. However the token producers don't move and are dealing constant damage which in turn makes them a more immanent threat. With Fungal Sprouting you have one more win condition that will help cover this deck's flank. Of course it is up to you if you want you put Fungal Sprouting into the deck, and I am sorry if I sound a little rude or pushy.

Reaperkingmtg Na you are ok, and i now see what you are talking about for another win condition. I will add it in and give it a shot. I just wish it cost 3 and not 4! :)

I was thinking of adding Boil to this deck to destroy all lands in play. If I have Xenagos, The Reveler , Sarkhan Vol or even Garruk, Primal Hunter (though his ult wont be useful anymore) I can easily hold the board down, I can play Boil on turn 4 and really strip anyone from doing anything useful. Particularly if I have Xenagos, The Reveler out and can generate mana from my many tokens.
