Spootyone I know you are a busy guy on here, but I was wondering if you had any ideas for this deck? It would help so much! Thanks!

Femme_Fatale I hear your a modern queen and that is the format I tend to want to play in. Any suggestions?

I love the look of this deck almost as much as I love tokens! Boil looks like a step in the right direction for hurting control players. And I think the previously suggested Hammer of Purphoros Would be more useful for its haste ability, than token generation, though I doubt it's really necessary here at all. I really don't think it's still in modern, but Static Orb could lock down the board for you pretty easily once you get your plainswalkers out, since they generate the bulk of your tokens, and don't tap to do things.

Sporq Yeah I have Sarkhan Vol for the haste trigger, it may be 1 more to play than the hammer. I like the idea of Static Orb , I then looked around and found Winter Orb and that could work as well... but I have to see if either are modern legal.

Consider Plaguemaw Beast or Contagion Engine to proliferate and increase the +1 counters on Mycoloth . You could pump out allot of tokens quickly once you get that combo going. Also, Utopia Mycon is nice once you start pumping out those saproling tokens.

I would put an singleton Garruk, Caller of Beasts in there for his Doubling Season synergy. I have played these two cardsin an fun "get progenitus out" brew and it was just brutal. The Emblem is so worth it, I mean, just throw one of your big bobs out while playing another big bob and the 1 remeaning mana? Use it for one Birds of Paradise and get an 3rd big ass creature...
Garruk's Emblem is really no joke :D

I would suggest taking four or five lands out and adding some zendikar fetch lands, just because it speeds the deck up by thinning your deck so you draw cards you actually need rather than lands, which you don't need. Your deck will do really good without them, it would just make it faster. For your sideboard, i think your biggest matchup would be against UWR tempo, with all the board wipes and everything. I would try to find a card the helps you get back from such a setback. really like the deck! glad you share some passion in modern :) rather than the money trap of standard :P

ryanjoha Yeah I'm with you there, I don't really care for standard much...most of my builds are modern!

Wooded Foothills would probably speed my deck up, I will test them out.

February 23, 2014 12:17 p.m.

wooded foothills is banned in modern, it was printed before the 8th edition. since forests is what you need, i'd suggest Verdant Catacombs

parallel lives from innistrad could serve as doubling seasons 5 through 8, splashing black for bitterblossom could be cool but at the same time could be awful. cool deck, +1

Love new and innovative Modern Decks! You've made a great and interesting deck. +1 of course.

It's crazy to think that hundreds of people can look at a deck and not +1 it...but I'm not one of those people :) Great job.

Thanks CurdBrosBrewingCo! I tried to make something different in modern that would actually work...it was really difficult.

I see you are mostly a modern player and I am newish to the modern format. Do you have any suggestions?

February 24, 2014 9:58 p.m.

Modern is (in my opinion) the best format of them all! Its unique in the fact that you can play a deck that's not necessarily among "the best" decks and still win (as long as you have the appropriate sideboard for your bad match-ups) because:

(a) A lot if people will still net-deck one of the top 5 decks and you can have cards that cripple your bad match-ups.

(B) Your Opponent NOT knowing your deck is a huge advantage you have over them. They don't know what to respond to or what's coming next.

(C) You can play a deck that meets your play style. There are fast Aggro decks, control, countless combo decks, and plenty of midrange decks all of which can win any given game. It's much easier to become proficient in your deck when you love playing it.

Really , that's the most important part. Pick a deck you love and become an expert . It still has to be competitive if course; but you can look at MTGTop8.com to see where the meta is at on any given month ( you can look at the percentages of certain archetypes played to see which are most popular and literally click to see the lists) and play test against them on cockatrice or with proxies. Just test against the top 10 decks and build a great sideboard for your awful match-ups!

And don't give up when it looks like one deck destroys yours in game one. There will always be a few bad match-ups. There are cards out there to wipe out any deck (especially in white which you run in your deck ); so you will always be able to take games 2 and 3.

That's really all I can suggest. Just play a deck you love and test the heck out if it against the top 10 in the meta. And don't be afraid to have a creative brew (like yours). It has built in advantages and playing your deck perfectly is better than playing Splinter Twin poorly :)

Just keep doin way you're doin! Love the deck!

While Pithing Needle helps, you may want to consider Krosan Grip to deal with Ratchet Bomb , Engineered Explosives , and Steel Hellkite as they can really hurt this deck. Congrats on the win.

this is a very good deck i really like it the only problem you would have with this deck is massive field wipes some Rootborn Defenses because of your mana options

February 27, 2014 8:12 a.m.

Devilsmage says... #16

Rootborn Defenses is a perfect card for this deck...but I do not know how I can incorporate it...maybe I can get a BOP or make a utopia white?

The little birdy word for M2015 is that the zendikar lands will be reprinted. If that is the case this deck will greatly accelerate by swapping those lands in this deck. They are not in here right now because the RG land type isnt modern legal and I think that is just damn silly to use the other lands that run only 1 of the colors i need for 50$ a card.

I agree with mrtibbs24, a Rootborn Defenses would be a great card to blow out a Supreme Verdict or any other wipes. My only suggestion is again what mindseeker said, add a couple of Parallel Lives . I would -1 Utopia Sprawl and -1 Mycoloth and +2 Parallel Lives . The reason is that it may not have the synergy with your planeswalkers, but it still serves as a great token doubler, and seeing as that is the whole point, having 2 extra chances to start/draw one to get online with Token City, it seems like a smart choice. Also, if you run into a bad match up and need to sideboard, they are your 2 free slots to sideboard something in, since not having them isn't a detriment to your game plan.

As to your sideboard, I would suggest losing the Pithing Needle and getting some form of anti-enchantment. I see Beast Within and I know that's a great one, but if you are playing against super friends, you will need to use them against planeswalkers, and then you will be vulnerable to enchants.

P.S. What do you mean no one is running normal Island s? Other than the M13 Dual lands, ie Rootbound Crag and his ilk, almost all other dual lands are dual type as well, so they too would get blown by Boil.

what about Cream of the Crop to help me "scry" into win cons?

March 2, 2014 11:59 a.m.

Pethrax says... #20

No. Just, no. You would basically be ruining the flow of your deck for 1 card on top, Cream of the Crop would better fit if you were using smaller tokens, like 1/1 Soldiers, not 3/3 Beasts and 4/4 Dragons.

Pethrax, so you think I should run a Naturalize instead of Ancient Grudge ?

March 2, 2014 2:03 p.m.

Pethrax says... #22

2 of Naturalize and 1 of Ancient Grudge since Grudge recurs, and naturalize can do double duty, that way you aren't blown out by any U/W/x control decks who run Detention Sphere or the Assemble the Legion +Purphoros, God of the Forge combo.

What about using Champion of Lambholt to make your creatures virtually unblockable?

March 4, 2014 10:59 a.m.

Devilsmage says... #24

Oh wow...Champion of Lambholt might be a solid card for this deck. Ill test that out now.

I used your deck as a template because its awesome. I'm using Fecundity to increase card draw.
