Ideally, it's better to Birds into Caryatid plus another 1 drop Birds.

Arbor Elf + Utopia Sprawl is a better ramp, but the hexproof 0/3 block is nice.

Hey Devils, i love the deck. Great concept with doubling season and planeswalkers, not many people realize that combo:P I think you could take out God of the Forge, you have so much damage i think he is just overkill, and maybe put in beast from within or another kind of kill spell, because early game is where your weak late game im sure you control the board. Thats my 2 cents :) i actually play tested my deck against yours and went even out of 10 games 5-5. Check it out if you get the chance :)

How about Pandemonium instead of Purphoros?

Devilsmage says... #5

Do I really want to give my opponents free damage when I don't havea way to gain life? I Really like the idea though...

Valius says... #6

With Doubling Season and your planeswalkers alone, that won't be an issue. They'll get 2-3 damage on you from it and you'll get like 10 or 12. Heck, Doubling Season + Pandemonium + Sarkhan Vol alone is an instant kill, as opposed to just 10 damage with Purphoros.

Anyway, it was used against me recently in a similar fashion, and it was pretty epic.

They can use the redirect rule to hit my walkers with their creatures.from that card. ..? That would be distasterous.

Tested this deck and it gets huge fast! +1 for that! But, there is one card always in the back of my mind when I think tokens and that's Ratchet Bomb . How do you plan to counter that if/when it starts showing up in your meta's sideboards?

March 19, 2014 11:57 a.m.

Devilsmage says... #9

I have artifact and permanent removal on my sideboard for that very reason!

Tinselteeth says... #10

Ok, now I see the Pithing Needle , but that's the only thing in your sideboard that will stop Ratchet Bomb cold. Maybe add another one to the Side? Try and hit Ratchet Bomb with a removal spell and the other guy will just laugh and pop the Bomb over your Naturalize / Beast Within .

Devilsmage says... #11

Yeah that is a hard card to get around for this deck. fortunately Ratchet Bomb is a one off per card and I usually dont have issues recovering because my creatures that create the tokens are rather large (or planeswalkers), so how i generate the tokens will still remain in play and I should be able to come back from there...but that card is a problem for this deck.

Ratchet Bomb isn't that big of a deal against this due to the fact generally the main token generators Mycoloth + Dragon Broodmother will survive.

The things that hurt me are actually Blood Seeker & Suture Priest

Devilsmage says... #14

Yeah...I will beast within either one of those immediately....since that would nuke me super hard.

March 19, 2014 1:15 p.m.

Have you thought of using Beastmaster Ascension ? Suddenly your massive token army becomes huge and hasty with Sarkhan Vol ...

I have a similar token deck:

Love this deck! Two of my favorite creatures and my favorite walker Sarkhan Vol . I will disagree (and feel free to disagree with me as well) but Beastmaster Ascension seems more like a win-more card and could dilute your deck

After testing the Beastmaster Ascension it does not work, I am still looking for something to replace my purph...maybe put my Naturalize (for pods) or Beast Within on mainboard?

+1 From me. I know it's not playable in competitive but Giant Adephage would be fun in multiplayer or casual. It could go off with Sarkhan Vol 's +1 and obviously Doubling Season

Originally I did have that Giant Adephage in this deck (very very very early build when it was just fun). I love that guy but hes just too big to play.

This deck is phenomenal! You obviously know what you're doing. Do you think you could help me as well? I would appreciate some advice on my deck. My Baby Tooth and nail Deck . Thanks!

What about Bottled Cloister ? This will stop people from stealing my combos out of my hand as well as allow me a card advantage. I dont usually run any destruction, but when I do I can swap for the Beast Within if I need it?

I really need an opinion on this one.

So I am testing 2xBottled Cloister instead of 2xPurphoros, God of the Forge .

I only really get a good use out of Purphoros, God of the Forge if I have probably already won the game (my walker+season combo goes off or I overrun the board anyways...)

Bottled Cloister gives me a significant card advantage...I think it will work since if I want to sideboard it out for a removal, its really easy to do so.

I think the only thing I could recommend is Mitotic Slime . It works well with devour and Doubling Season . Probably not really necessary with all the other token generators but a suggestions nonetheless.

This is an interesting deck. I like it. +1 from me.

April 1, 2014 12:43 a.m.

How many decks do you face with discard? If you think Bottled Cloister is worth running main because of that, then do it. If not, then maindeck your Beast Within .
