In my early build she was in there but I cut her because she wasn't really in line with my over all game plan, which was pure speed and brute force. She may work in this build now since the deck is much smoother and has been ironed out for bugs. The only issue is that if I do use her again I can only run 2 of her unless I cut something critical for the third card. I rarely rarely ever run only two of any card unless I know two is the correct amount or in testing out the idea...

Sadly I don't think she will work because she will just end up getting chump blocked to protect a planes walker. But I think it's not a bad idea to test out!

what is there 1 other person that shows up at your fnm's. u bring that to ours and i dont see u winning a single match tbh. ive played this deck out probably 100 times in the last two weeks and ive gotten a few good draws but for the most part your not playing anything before turn 3 or 4 and u have no removal or ways to stop any combo's outside of your sideboard, which inst that strong either. if you play alot of good decks they should be able to win turn 3 to 5. im not saying you lie about winning but im sceptical about the competition u played against. maybe it's more op than i think who knows just my thoughts. if u play cockatrice i would love to play against u and see for myself how this deck works firsthand.

deckmonster99 you played my deck 100 times? thats pretty impressive for a deck you think stinks; it would take at least a few hours to do 100 true playtests. Why would you bother with it then? Ignore it and move on.

If the sideboard is that bad, suggest something to fix it.

If the main board is that bad, suggest something to fix it.

Honestly you just sound Butthurt by Tokens? The deck is plenty fast when I can ramp up with things. You should be more constructive than try to tell me its not good; that really helps no one.

@Devilsmage The only one around here that sounds "butthurt" is u, tell your boyfriend to slow it down a bit maybe or us some lube. yeah i have spent hundreds of hours this winter play testing all sorts of modern decks on websites like this always looking for the "new big thing" in magic, i work summer's only and sell cards on ebay for extra income. playing magic everyday and seeing what people are using helps me gauge what to buy. i also play tons of Competitive magic online and at live events traveling to other states to play sometimes. when i seen 3x fnm champ on the decks tag it Intrigued me to take a look along with the absurd name. the deck just never seemed to play out good. but every time i frequent this site your deck was cycled and i would give it a spin again. sorry im just try to figure out the Anomaly here. of the 1000's of modern games ive played how a deck with hardly any form of removal and really no board presence before turn 3 or 4 if your lucky and has no way around counter spells can be so effective. and with iamacasual comment its seems i am not the only one out there. In my opinion this just looks like a casual deck. i dint want to give any suggestions since i probably would almost ripe the entire thing apart and start over. getting lots of creatures out on turn 6 or 7 in modern probably wont work in a competitive setting, when there are a lot of other players with tier combo decks, and players who know how to us them.

deckmonster99 I respect what you have to say and I guess we are just at a disagreement. Is it top tier enough to compete at the main event that happened last month? Probably not, is it an above average and can have a good day? Sure!...

It does compete well in more than just one place..I travel here and there and I have tried it at different places with mixed results, but I generally do fairly well and have won a few tournaments. It wins more than you would expect it to because its not the generic zoo, tron, faries, etc and usually the deck surprises people and they have trouble side boarding against it.

Yes, the deck is just a fine tuned glass cannon and ive been to many many modern tournaments where my deck has just entirely miss fired. But that is the nature of the beast. I really rarely see modern decks that end the game on turn 3? Most players are too focused on removing my walkers to actually end the game that quickly; only twin and poison decks ignore my walkers usually. The deck usually has the game over around turn 4 or 5. (usually 5).

Can I ask what the Elixir of Immortality is for? I like naturalize, but I think you might be better suited with some number of Ancient Grudge in the board instead, given how great it is against affinity compared to Naturalize (though for affinity you also have access to Creeping Corrosion and Shatterstorm , and with your ramp it wouldn't be too hard to get there. All of these are good choices). You could then run something like Back to Nature for the GW enchantment decks. In any case, Naturalize is almost certainly worse than the new Destructive Revelry , so I would take it out regardless.

Grafdigger's Cage is a good card also, but in green you could be running Scavenging Ooze , which may even be good enough for main deck inclusion here seeing as you have 0 cards with 2cmc in the main (and yes I get that all of your 1 drops help you get to 3 the next turn, but eh I still don't like looking at the curve), and hey - bonus value with Doubling Season ! lol.

EldestDragonHighlander Ancient Grudge doesn't hit enchantments and for 1 more with all the mana I have, Im willing to pay that 1 more to get the card that hits both. Granted I believe in most cases Ancient Grudge is probably the better card.

In my experience I sometimes run into mill decks and Elixer is a good way to stop them entirely. Granted it is a pretty niche card in modern...and I suppose I wont have any issues with swapping Elixer out.

I did not even know about Destructive Revelry , definitely going in the deck!

Grafdigger's Cage is huge to stop storm decks which i see a good amount of (flashback, storm, snapcaster, etc).What would you take out for Scavenging Ooze if you did?

Jdvanliew When it comes to legendary cards I do have quite a bit and I agree that it can be an issue (although rarely). I actually use the legend rule to my advantage in most cases by being able to use my walkers abilities twice in one turn.

@Devilsmage i would think your deck would kick my deck around pretty easy but with all the player's who cant build there own and buy a tier deck which in 95% of the magic community it will struggle beating with your current setup. my advice would to be adding some sort of control aspect into the deck, to prevent being combo meat. maybe go with land destroy ploys early game. u need some sort of defense. even if u hit your nut draw it's not an instant win con. my buddy plays a gruel ramp deck, that primary goal early game is to destroy lands and us cards like Trinisphere to stall before he gets enough mana.

Well if you wanted to keep an Elixir effect, run Wheel of Sun and Moon instead because it does double duty against those decks you want Grafdigger's Cage for as well as protecting you from Mill decks (really funny against Pyromancer's Ascension for sure). As for how to add scavenging ooze, even with all the ramp I think you could benefit from trimming the top end, I'll have to goldfish more to see what I'd take out.

Another card to consider in the board is Spellskite since you are rather particular about your key permanents, and Maelstrom Pulse has been seeing a lot of play (it blocks pretty well too).

Well...I have some issues with combo, but I am able to stop it. The current twin/kiji setup is just plain hard to stop unless you are blue and counter everything apart of that combo.

I have Pithing Needle and Beast Within to stop splinter & kijiki, Destructive Revelry and Beast Within to stop pod and Trinisphere , problematic creatures and planeswalkers (liliana in particular, she crushes this deck). Blood Moon hoses control decks (blue and black usually run non standard blue black lands).

When in a pinch I use Sarkhan Vol , steal a Tarmogoyf , attack with it and then sac it to Mycoloth on second phase. Or hit it with Beast Within while i control it to get the beast token and kill it at the same time.

What control cards can i add to this deck? I really dont know any good control cards in my color setup (i thought about splashing white for Path to Exile but the three colors failed miserably.)

For land destruction I have never really used cards like that, what do you suggest?

@Devilsmage the more i think about it, it may sound crazy but adding white might be a great idea, u could add Ajani Vengeant and Path to Exile into the mix giving u disruption and removal/land fixing. and Ajani Vengeant with your Doubling Season in play is a good as gold. Champion of Lambholt ,Mycoloth could be taken out in turn to make space.

At that point isn't he just playing a bad version of Naya? I dunno, if I was going to try to do 3 color tokens in modern it would probably be G/W/B instead of G/W/R, particularly if you are interested in disruption.

That is exactly what I tried to incorperate last week and failed. Adding white for Ajani and path to exile just does not work, the deck becomes very unstable and doesnt really become good at anything in particular.

Did it completely fail? No, I still won a good chunk of my test games, but it was considerably more hit and miss than ever before.

Maybe I did it wrong? Id be willing to try it again.

Actually the Lambholt rarely ever gets that big. Most of the time opponents immedialy remove him or lightning bolt him since they know that cards an immediate threat...which is great for me because that means they waste a removal on something that isnt critical to the deck.

Scry Lands are too slow for this deck. The small chance I can only turn 1 scry and not play BOP or mystic I will lose the game. I tested them and it did not go well.
