My first build of monoblack. PLEASE comment suggestions and tips.TY.

I'm going to go over my personal reasons for most of the cards, and I'm very open to discuss points.

Creatures

  • Desecration Demon - Not much needs to be said here. Coupled with my arsenal of removal, he is bound to get a swing or two in, and that's really all he needs.

Spells

  • Thoughtseize - Is there any need to explain this choice? It was good when it was in standard before, it's good in Legacy, it's good in Modern, it's good now.

  • Doom Blade - This is our go-to removal for this deck. It's cheap cost and range of targets makes this card one of my favorite removal spells in the game.

  • Hero's Downfall - Although the cast is something to consider, it is an excellent removal spell. It's essentially a Dreadbore at instant speed, and is all around better than Murder. Plus, it helps us deal with those pesky walkers, which is a problem many control decks have.

  • Read the Bones - Yes, the loss of 2 life can seem like a toll. Other than the loss of life, this card is just a really solid hand sculpt, giving a potential 4 card advantage over your opponent. It's just a better Sign in Blood IMO.

  • Whip of Erebos - Ahh yes...the heart of the deck. Not only is it a reusable Unearth effect for four mana, but it also gives ALL your creatures lifelink! So much synergy with other cards in the deck, it's really a must.

  • Devour Flesh - Their are enough reasons to run this mainboard in the format at the moment. It used to be used to get rid of pesky hexproof creatures, but now lets us get rid of indestructible creatures OR sac our own creatures that are going to get exiled by Whip of Erebos anyways.

Sideboard

  • Dark Betrayal - This is switched with Doom Blade in black matchups for obvious reasons. Can also be sided in as an additional removal against aggro decks that run black beaters.

  • Lifebane Zombie - This is, obviously, sided in against green and/or white decks. These replace Underworld Connections to keep the curve, as well as the devotion, consistent.

  • Duress - I'm still not %100 percent sure if I would use these to replace Thoughtseize against the control matchup, as of current, that's the plan.

  • Pack Rat - I'm sure this card brought a smirk to some of your faces. Surprisingly, it is an amazing side card against the aggro matchups for when you just need more bodies. After sticking the first one, no draw is a brick...Holding 4 lands? You're now holding 4 Pack Rats.

With it being a control themed deck, the creature count is a bit low, as to be expected. I appreciate any tips and advice that you can give for feedback.
