Wednesday Standard at LGS — April 27, 2016

Went 2-1 overall, however my last opponent never showed up so I consider this a hollow victory, and definitely didn't get enough experience with this deck to get any solid impressions.

Match 1: G/B Seasons Petition Control.

Game one he was flooding slightly, and every creature he put down I took care of without any difficulty. Eventually smashed his face in with a few Stranglers.
Game two was much more evenly spaced. He sided in a bunch of removal, and sided out a lot of his creatures. Totally wrecked my midgame plan. Also with a well timed To the Slaughter he got a Sorin and a TKS before they could put in much work. Game went long, he started to combo off and I just couldn't get back from that.
Game three sort of the same story. Game went too long and he cast a few Nissa's Renewal and combo off again.

Takeaway: I can't let the game go long against this deck, the combo is just crushing. Hand disruption work real well to stall for a bit, and Transgress the mind is so much better than Duress in this scenario, because they can't seasons past back what they were made to discard. I never sided in Pitiless Horde, which was a mistake. That could have been my mid game beats.

Match 2: vs U/R all in Mill.

I won't do a game by game. Essentially, hand disruption to take out his Tutelages, and my removal suite made mincemeat out of his Thingys. Was a pretty easy win. (lost game two because I kept a real shitty one land hand after mulling to 6, I will never do that again)

Takeaway: Hand disruption, hand disruption, hand disruption.

Match 3: vs ???

Never showed up. Blah. Wanted to test this deck more.
